Have a look at both the reds in the metal if you get the chance! :)
In the GRP?

I'm pretty sure it's only Magma Red which was used on the 2023 cars which I'd be choosing from - looks nice in photos but I haven't seen it in the flesh. Is it a bit more marmite than I was thinking? https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-detail ... 1294392440

No, I think Magma Red is nice. I'm a bit confused about which reds I've seen now. I might have just seen a clean Magma car in the sun and a dirty one in the shade rather than seeing the other red. Whatever it was, the metallic red I've seen is the next best colour after yellow if it helps.

And yes, I guess it's GRP. I wasn't sure what it was made out of!

For balance, I like lighter coloured wheels. :D

Magma or DCR?

I can understand this, if you have something in the garage for weekend it's needs to feel special, involving and different. The Emira looks really good and reminds me of the 458, which of the modern Ferarris is my favourite.

Not a massive 911 fan, I get they drive well but just not for me and they are so ubiquitous they just wouldn't feel special. I do like to be a bit different, the A110 appeals apart from the 4 pot Megane (think that's it) engine just seems a little poor for such an expensive car, but they did seem at least from a distance to be an event when they are driven.

I seem to be developing a pathological hate for MX-5's due to my neighbours kid who has a rotten mk2 (added a body kit without sorting the rot too) with a stupid exhaust on that wakes me up early in the mornings as he proceeds to rev the tits off it when he leaves for work, they all just make me shudder now

The red looks good (despite the pisstake above) but is it apeing Ferarri too much? Also white leather seats seem to age and look dirty quickly.

That is a horrible picture of Magma Red BTW.

I'm still keen on Nimbus Grey - it's quite similar to the Quartz Silver of my old S2 Elise which is a nice link. Would probably order Atlantis Blue if going for a brand new one to my spec.

Normally not a fan of red but that makes it look even more special. The opposite of Ferraris which always look more special when they aren’t red.

Sat in a dark red 1st Edition yesterday and it is very nice although seats were a bit flat and there’s a weird bolt/hole on the front of the gearstick that I would find annoying.. maybe a quick fix though. Handily there was a row of Aston, Porsche, Lotus (and Auto vivendi).. so went straight from the new Vantage, stunning blue with blue carbon fibre and a very nice cabin and has even more pronounced curves in the flesh. Sounded okay at idle. Had the lightweight racing seats that were not comfortable for me and had a hard carbon fibre edge around the base that made it painful getting in or out.

Next was a 992 Turbo.. this one actually:

https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/dea ... t_id=14345

2+2 instantly makes it feel more practical, cabin is very nice if a bit more mainline than the Aston, paddles are weirdly short.. first time I’ve seen this colour and looks much better in the flesh than pics, not a colour I’ve looked at before.

Lotus doesn’t have as good a cabin, but then is half the price. Looks great and gf likes these since before launch, but lack of boot is a bit of a killer. Don’t think I’ll test drive one as not being able to take it to work or away for weekends would limit my usage, so I don’t want to really love the way it drives!. 😁

Not really interested but there’s obviously people out there with more money than sense.

Finally there was a yellow Cyberster with funky doors, £70k for 4wd version. Looked good but certainly not a mx5 size car, more Jag XK?

Spent more time looking at classic cars, but not right time; lack of a garage or drive is really limiting my options.. 🙄😕
Cheers,

Ian

Gear knob screws onto the shaft, but you then lock it with a grub screw to ensure it’s oriented correctly. You are describing the location of said grub screw.

I wasn't aware of these so had to Google, looks OK but:

Tipping the scales at 1,920kg in dual-motor form...

2-seater sports cars are now two tonnes ???

I'm more concerned with the idea of a £50-60k MG.

The Cyberster looks good but I don’t know what it is. Is it a Chinese attempt at a British sports car with some detail changes made in the U.K.? I’d rather have an MG that was knocked up in a shed by plucky British engineers.

it's presumably aiming to be just an EV MX5 non? I quite like it - it's filling a hole that no one else seems to be filling. Pretty much every other EV is a hatchback/SUV and they don't really appeal to me.

If the double motor one is Tesla quick and reasonably affordable (which perhaps is the issue) then I like it.

The massive badge would have to go though.

yeah, that is obviously other problem! But if they can work it to take advantage of the low CoG like a model 3 does, then it's potentially not as much of an issue as it could be. Helped by the fact it's also about 3x faster accelerating than an MX5.

I just like the fact it's a different form factor to all the other unappealing EVs.

I don’t want to type a TL:DR on my phone but we test drove a VW ID Buzz today and it was fabulous. But it doesn’t fit under the arch to our drive.

That’s the very nice salesman doing the reflectoporn.

I’ll write a bit more about it when I’m less cream-crackered. But I loved it.

I'm confused - isn't that your garage in the picture?

Agree with RichB; it’s good someone is not just making an SUV etc..

Subjectively, it is a good looking car, and I hope they go for wafting GT as opposed to max attack road legal race car, and the doors opening that way work much better with our stupid parking bay sizes(but let’s not go there again!).. I wish them luck!
