Lyme disease

Post by speedingfine »

Yep, in March FFS. My dog is to blame I reckon. Three weeks of antibiotics

When life gives you lemons...

GWS!

Also I didn't think you could get Lyme's from a pet? Isn't it a direct bite from a tick?
How about not having a sig at all?

Oh no that's not good. Are you getting IV antibiotics. Can be hard to shift as Lyme Borrelia bacteria can go into hibernation (apparently).

Alas not, just oral Doxycycline 100mg so far. Already felt nauseous and it's only day two of them!

Thanks chaps. Got an outdoorsy friend who knows a lot of people who've had it, had the course of antibiotics and been fine 🤞

GWS! Did you catch the little bastard in the act or was it the symptoms afterwards?

Symptoms, just looked like a normal bite, then a big red bullseye rash appeared on my thigh and now I've got quite a collection of them :|

Might be from the dog but people often get it walking through long grass, where the ticks come from deer.

Doxycycline is nasty stuff for the tummy. I’d usually combine it with an anti acid eg omeprazole which you can get off the pharmacist.
Second line antibiotic if you can’t tolerate it is amoxicillin.

We wouldn’t usually give IV for uncomplicated skin infection (erythema migrans) and this is reserved for central nervous or cardiac involvement.

A collection? So the little fella had a few meals? Or bought the family?

I mean, at least you'll get 5/5 on TickAdvisor. "Great vintage - would latch onto again"
