Paintless Dent Removal.

Discovered a dent on the mini yesterday.

In the spirit of budget motoring Id quite like to learn how to do this myself.

Anyone done so? Bought a kit? Any recommended videos?

I watched the bloke who removed a big dent from the rear arch of the VXR8. It's witchcraft.

I can only advise not to buy a Neilsen Dent Remover Kit. It was utter rubbish.

I assume he means the glue gun kit, which I am certain works, but only on one panel shape/thickness/rigidity.

Chipping/scratching glass and creating more dents is generally the result of an amateur tries!

Had some taken out of my roof and doors on the Jag by DWV, can't tell there was ever a mark!

I’d like to learn it. Have had a few goes and managed to make various dents look less bad, but wouldn’t say have ever actually completely removed any.

I think the most important thing would be to buy an illuminated line board so you can see exactly where the dent is and how the metal moves as you press it and gently tease the dent out.

I guess you just have to understand it’s a skill which takes practise and you’re not going to be able to remove every dent you see after 20 mins messing.

That. I chatted to the bloke who did mine and he’d been doing it exclusively for years. Didn’t do any other bodywork stuff as it’s so specialist. He explained that he was starting from the outer edges of the dent to push it proud and then bring it back to flat, then move inwards towards where the centre of the dent is, and repeat, You don’t go near the centre of the dent until the final stage. Which was almost the opposite of that I was expecting him to do.

I made a dent a lot better on the X5 to the point it was barely noticeable. Would like to have a better idea at how’s best to tackle them.

There was a chap which used to regularly pop up on my YouTube who would show the whole process on tackling a dent, from how he got access to what bars and tips he used.

Was really interesting, but not seen any for a while. I guess I didn’t watch a couple of suggested vids and he dropped off my algorithm.
