Not being able to drive VS boring car
Re: Not being able to drive VS boring car
I'm two months into my Blood Pressure meds - Ramipril - and so far so good. BP's down to 120/130 over 82/85. Still not perfect but way better than before. The last drop will come when I lose more of the Covid Weight.
Only side effect I'm experiencing is Acid Indigestion so some foods (which, to be honest, I probably shouldn't be eating anyway) had had to go by the wayside.

Ramipril worked fine for me until I developed an allergy to it, I got multiple symptoms - ended up being tested for cancer until they worked out it was an allergy :/dinny_g wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2023 9:48 am I'm two months into my Blood Pressure meds - Ramipril - and so far so good. Sorry for the rough time you're having. Do the doctors have any feeling for what it is that is causing the seizures? I saw an early post that pointed at something to do with the optic nerve but then it looked like it wasn't that?
Re: Not being able to drive VS boring car
Optic Nerve damage appears to be unrelated and benign.
My best guess is sleep apnea related. I have both the snoring and brain types, and whatever causes my brain to misfire and stop breathing could well be related to the misfires that cause my seizures, but its all guess work and nothing obviously has shown up in tests (which is common).

Sorry to hear it has been so troublesome to manage but there is always the hope they will get there in the end. I think sometimes you spend so long looking for a trigger it can send you a bit barmy (maybe it was that extra garlic clove I put in the mince etc) and hard to accept that it can be a random process in idiopathic seizure disorders.
Ramipril is good for what ails ya. Great evidence of preserving kidney function, reducing risk of heart dysfunction, etc etc

So medically things have stabilised, now hit 6 months without a seizure, no further change in dose, but recently moved my 2nd set of pills earlier to try and reduce the bouts of insomnia I am getting.
Kidney medication having no side effects - due to increase dose in November. Blood pressure remains stable.
OH and I am waiting for my blue badge to arrive.

They’re a pain in the arse to get blue badges through, they seem to take an absolute age to get, took ages for my wife’s to come. Once you’ve got it you’ll be able to apply for a bus pass too

6 months seizure free is great.
Insomnia + inability to drive sounds like a perfect excuse you get yourself a basic force-feedback wheel and a driving game or two: see the recent Forza thread.

In 2 and a bit months I can apply for my licence back.
Having spoken to my Epilepsy nurse today, decided to stick with current levels of medication mid-long term.

Yes, I will be able to drive under Section 88 as I surrendered rather than waited to have my licence revoked.
