y'day

Post by mik »

I've noticed a number of work colleagues recently using "y'day" in emails rather than "yesterday".

I'm not sure why it grates so much, but I don't like it.

That is all.

(Y'day. All my troub's seemed so far a'y.)

Abbreviations must be approved organisation wide otherwise confusion will arise. Respond with prejudice.

My business partner uses 'PFA' for 'please find attached' on emails and it really grates with me for some reason :x

The only 1 thing that Musk ever did right in his whole privileged life was banning TLAs from Tesla.

We use them all the time at work, and unfortunately they often have more than one meaning and it's hard knowing what they're ever talking about.

I work in a heart and lung hospital.
On the lung wards, ICD means “intercostal drain” (chest drain).
On the heart wards, ICD means “implantable cardioverter defibrillator”.
These are very different things.
It is unhelpful.

ANYONE who uses things like this is a tit of the highest order.

There is no need for it as you are not charged per letter.

Twingo owners group on Facebook uses that when asking a question accompanied by a picture of their car, pfa meaning “picture for attention”
