I'm not on TikTok, how does it stack up against other platforms for revenue per sub/click? That's a livable salary for many people...I've never understood the popularity of the platform but that might explain it!
They launched the 'Creativity Program Beta' back in September, which was the new version of the Creator Fund. Previously, people would get something around £0.01 - £0.02 per 1000 views, so even when getting 10m views a month I never broke past £200.

On the new fund, they're paying around £0.50 - £1.10 per 1000 eligible views, which seems to be roughly half of total views. Therefore on 10m views per month I would have been getting ~£2,500 or possibly more. When it comes to short form video, TikTok are paying the most, followed by Facebook for 1min+, then YouTube Shorts. Instagram has no monetisation in place right now.

My issue with TikTok is that the app has logged my geolocation as Ecuador because that's where I first downloaded the app - a country which is not eligible for the CPB - and there is no way to change it. There's about 30 creators in the same boat and my contact at TikTok said they have created an internal team to sort it out. Fingers crossed!

Work: No change here in 2023. It pays ok, I’m treated well and I like the people I work with. Still toying with going back contracting but I’ve become a bit lazy this last 12 months, if I’m honest. There’ll be a few negative changes this year at my current place, hopefully that’ll give me the required shove in the right direction.

Had two weeks in Mexico and a few weekends away in London, Devon, Wales. I’ll wait for the Christmas/NY fog to disappear then start planning.

Physical and mental health seems fine. I feel fitter and stronger than ever. Put a bit more on than planned over Christmas but I’ll get rid of that ASAP.

GF ended things in Aug. Bit of pain to begin with then realised I wasn’t all that happy anyway and she’d actually done us both a wonderful favour. Stepped up the gym, upgraded the wardrobe and hit the dating sites. Online dating gets a bad rap but I’ve always had a great time. It was a fun end to the summer.

No immediate plans for anything really, but that’s ok right now. I’m happy and looking forward to the year.

2023 wasn't too bad all things considered.

Mrs Delphi's managed to snag herself a new job towards the end of the year and the extra money kind of offsets the cost of living increases with mortgage rates going up etc.

STILL haven't finished the 928, although finally getting the respray done was a major (and very expensive) milestone. Expanded the fleet by acquiring the Boxster, initially just so I could go to Germany, but I've kind of fallen in love with it and although I can't really justify keeping it, and my wife thinking I'm going to sell it in the spring, I think I'm going to keep it for at least another year.

Had some great trips/holidays (notably Germany in the Boxster). Done a lot more TIPEC meets and made some good friends as a result.

Work is steady - it pays reasonably well and is low stress and relatively low effort. I miss working on my own stuff, so I might spin up a side hustle for a bit of extra cash.
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

Well that didn't last long. :(

Work friend (worked together on and off for about 15 years), not close, but a great guy who I'd call a friend. Went home to Malaysia for the holidays, went to bed complaining of stomach pain last week, found dead the next day. A (until then) healthy, young looking 47 years old. Don't know the cause of death, but I mean, WTF!?

Cheers guys. It's a strange one really, because it happened in Malaysia it's been quite hard to get info, and no option to get to the funeral realistically.

Anyway, life goes on, maybe it's an age thing and will get more and more common with age, but I feel like until last year I'd gone a long time without anyone I knew well passing away.
