Turkey prices!

Post by Zonda_ »

Took my mum to M&S, she wanted a turkey crown, for one that didn’t look particularly large it was £105!! It wasn’t an organic or corn fed etc either. It’s not even a nice meat…

We’ve stopped having turkey, never actually liked it, it was just “traditional”. We do a couple of chicken crowns now.

Beef rib roast for us 👍

Have tried a variety of fowl based christmas meats from Goose, multi bird roasts,Turkey whole and crown, etc. and they all disappoint to a degree unless you're a phenomenal cook.

I like Turkey and we now have it a couple of times a year as well as Xmas. I enjoy the taste anyway but an inch of stock and wine at the bottom of the roasting tin keeps it moist.

My wife commented on Xmas dinner inflation this week as my mum passed away in 2002 and Dad comes over every year and pays for the day in his words. He's given us £50 every year for the last 21 years, the first year he probably covered it but this year the prepared boned, stuffed and rolled Turkey from butchers is £75 before you start!

Along with a proper rest period and NEVER COOKING IT THE NIGHT BEFORE THOSE TURKEY RUINING BASTARDS Carlos walks the turkey line of correctness.

We have turkey and a nice gammon.

Oddly, on the one advertising hoarding in town, there is now a big Waitrose advert up, the nearest Waitrose to here is 60 miles away!

Since it's just me and the kids this year I've got a Turkey breast rolled in bacon, which sounds like a 1.5kgs of win to me. It was £35.

Correct.

When the kids are older we'll spend Christmas in Brazil one year. Really like the sound of what they do over there, food/family wise, and the whole Christmas thing isn't shoved down your throats for 3 months first.
