Teh Spotted Thread
Re: Teh Spotted Thread
There's no danger that the Smart engine would pull all that weight without like, tractor gearing
An absolute unit
Re: Teh Spotted Thread
What an utterly silly idea! One of the USPs of a smart is the clever packaging that puts the engine in the back. Exactly where it is in the way for a van/camper!
I'm filing that with coupe SUVs (but loads of companies are daft enough to actual make coupe SUVs!)

But it means you can service it from the comfort of your living room.Rich B wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 12:21 pm What an utterly silly idea! One of the USPs of a smart is the clever packaging that puts the engine in the back. Exactly where it is in the way for a van/camper!

Re: Teh Spotted Thread
Perhaps there's a photoshop of a Smart camper with the camper bit being attached to the front end. That's how it should be done.
Re: Teh Spotted Thread
Or a smart camper towing a heavily shortened Winnebago runaround.

Re: Teh Spotted Thread
Seen a few appear in videos (not the Aygo, but 4x4s) where they left it in gear or in 4 low or something and towed it behind with the expected result that the engine is in pieces.
Edit: was on the Just Rolled In YouTube channel.

Yup. Can't remember if it was that one or similar, but it mentioned they'd worked out that the engine would have hit something like 40k RPM by being towed in low gear. I assume it would have exploded long before.

The extremely rare V12 Range Rover. When BMW first acquired Land Rover they had 3 McLaren F1 V12s left over. They stuck one in the Munich museum. They stuck another in this Range Rover, however the handling was not up to par so they stuck the third one in the X5 which then went round the Nurburgring.
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: Teh Spotted Thread
Don't forget the one they put in a 5-series estate. That V12 is bloody everywhere!
Re: Teh Spotted Thread
You know it's just 2 330 Straight Sixes stuck at an angle and welded together...
Re: Teh Spotted Thread
I wasn't aware there was a new Maserati Granturismo out as it blasted past me earlier. First I thought it was an EV, then I noticed it had 4 exhausts. And reading about it it's now a mere V6 which has so many filters that it emits barely any noise at all
Back end looks great though.
