Yeah, I think so, they're usually self-employed owner-drivers. I looked at Amazon Flex a few years ago and you simply choose what hours you want to work.

My Evri chap in London is usually a black cab driver. Pretty clever, he does deliveries during quiet period but then goes back to a full time cabbie when its tourist season.

Still quite a bit of work to do, another 6 months minimum before it’s on the road, but it’s 80% there and more importantly I’ve spent 90% of the money I need to spend to finish it so the end is in sight.

Like all the adverts for unfinished projects that say "90% finished all hard work done just needs tidying" ??

Looks and sounds the nuts. Curious as to why so long before being back on the road, just busy with other stuff?

Very simple, there's almost forty grand in the engine, gearbox and electronics package.

The 535d engine has proved to be TOO EXTREME for its gearbox and has gone into limp home mode and will no longer clear the error with a restart.

There's an automatic gearbox specialist a mile and a half from my house so I'll get it booked in. Looking online it seems that a service /repair will be £350 and a reconditioned box is a grand fitted.

Of course, with a freshened box, (and subject to checking the torque limits on the box) a remap might be a fun way to celebrate...

I'd not even looked under the car before the MOT, I was expecting the worst, and figured I'd pick up the pieces afterwards. Getting stuck in today I'm not totally sure it deserved a pass :? I shan't complain though.

It's even more crusty than Gav's car - and that's saying something.

You're joking, however there was outrage on twitter last week when someone tweeted complaining about their awful experience with a black cab driver. Loads of people jumped on it as being racist or shouting that ethnicity was completely irrelevant in that situation. They meant a black cab

In fact, Black Cab driver should probably be capitalised, as opposed black cab driver, like the difference between Government and government?

https://www.ethnicity-facts-figures.ser ... -and-style

Capitalisation
The government’s preferred style is not to capitalise ethnic groups, (such as ‘black’ or ‘white’) unless that group’s name includes a geographic place (for example, ’Asian’, ‘Indian’ or ‘black Caribbean’).

From December 2021, all RDU publications use this style.

And TFL uses lower case "black taxis":

If someone from this country doesn’t understand “black cab driver” then they’ve failed the most basic intelligence test and it’s no longer worth your time to continue conversing with them.
