Re: The ebay thread
That's more like it. Still not sure I'd do it compared to something German but it would be interesting to try it.

Brave indeed.216,454 miles
Re: The ebay thread
I lot of suspicious white marks on the back seats
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: The ebay thread
it's not even particularly quick - 6.3 to 60.Sundayjumper wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 11:12 amCheap ? That one’s £19k ! It would be a hugely brave move compared to any BMW/Merc at that age & price.ZedLeg wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 10:12 amIf I was looking for a cheap barge to knock around in, a Lexus LS would be high on the list.mik wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 9:21 pm I’ve not really been aware of the Lexus LS600 previously.
Visually understated big wafty 440bhp v8 luxury with 4wd security. Auto box but see earlier wafty note. Not bad at all…

Barely broken in. There are older 1UZ lexuses that have done huge miles. Matt Farah’s “million mile Lexus” for example.Beany wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 12:14 amZedLeg wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 11:22 am That's true but you can find them cheap as chips.

Re: The ebay thread
Unimog! With rather more leather than they normally have....
Re: The ebay thread
It's awesome but it's got a bit of a weird stance to it - the back looks too high up even though the arch gaps are the same. I also like unimogs to have bigger wheels.
Re: The ebay thread
I wonder if a tarted up Unimog is worth less or more than a more industrial one. I'd be surprised if it's more.
In the same vein as the Lexus chat from the other day, this is lovely.

Re: The ebay thread
Possibly right, as I think most of them are used commercially. You need to have a passion + money to spare + fairly unusual storage capabilities to house one as a "cool 4x4".
edit: it's not even going to be that easy to assess, as there are so few available for comparison.
This one is kinda similar for around £58k, but :

> 125k vs 35k miles
> LHD vs RHD
> 24" vs 20" wheels (and possibly also the Unimog "stance kit") for @Rich B
> no roll cage vs roll cage (no roll cage looks way better to me)
... and they are so configurable that I'm not sure there are two the same out there.....
Re: The ebay thread
That one is far more appealing, but it'll sell to someone who wants to cut down trees in their hundred acre wood or similar. The Lister chaps's 'mog will not.mik wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 7:56 amPossibly right, as I think most of them are used commercially. Re: The ebay thread
I had a Passenger Ride in a Unimog on an Off-Road course up near Barnsley.
It had done 1.1m km’s 500k of that was in Germany where it was a workhorse for the Railway Network company, then Merc bought it back and put another 500k on it. The off road people had it for 4 or 5 years for the rest:
Amazing machines really

Re: The ebay thread
I used to drive them a bit, my grandad always had them for work. The 406 series so the interiors were a bit more rustic .

Re: The ebay thread
The black one is pretty useless, if it had a pto someone with an estate could at least use it to trim hedges
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: The ebay thread
Those old ones are a misery to spend any time in, you're sitting on the front wheel arch and the dog house for the engine is just bare fibreglass. So the noise and heat is incredible. Saying that, I used to amaze people by being able to fall asleep in the passenger seat. I blame early mornings and carbon monoxide poisoning tbh .

Re: The ebay thread
I assumed that the Unimog would fall into the X-class category where the p1mped versions are worth more than their more industrial siblings.
Re: The ebay thread
As Mik said it's hard to find a comparison as the chances of finding 2 identical Mogs is next to zero.
My thinking is that after the first 10 years they don't really lose much value as long as they're maintained. I think more people would be looking for a practical one with a pto and a usable cargo area than one with leather seats.
Some rich guy will probably buy it to sit in a shed and show off though, like a Spectre Defender.
