That's an idea that makes me smile, but its extra potential would be beyond my abilities to exploit if I'm honest.

6mins to charge 100% is a significant reduction. Then it mentions that it’s only 35kwh batteries, so lighter cars possible with 250km range, but whilst the benefits are there, who is going to manufacture a car that light? Porsche has their elec replacement planned for the Coxster and I just don’t see any mainstream car being produced at that light a weight which means the figures above are irrelevant

You will need a way of sustaining 1 MWh of power, unless they do this one at a time. That’s an energy equivilant of a 50 litre 1400hp diesel running flat out for 2.5 minutes being put into a battery if it’s 35kwh of battery.

Again, where will these huge peaks and troughs of power come from, if it’s from batteries then that’s some big batteries and more of the same kind of cost.

If you could guarantee a 20 minute fill up then I think most people would be happy with that, not random and perfect condition peak figures that are rarely met.

I was thinking of relatively small 60kwh batteries in the average sized car.

I think charging losses are still around 10% so even then that’s nearly 400kw of power needed.

I’ll geek some numbers when I’m done at work as I find this push for big charging speeds pretty strange.

Not sure it is strange. It is to try to make it "like filling up like we're used to". It is silly though. I think there are better things to focus on than headline figures. I guess it is part of the massive power, silly acceleration numbers game that is trying to make electric vehicles more desirable.

Usually charge the car and stick dishwasher on when it's sub 17p a unit and had it as low as 1p.

Tomorrow is a first as there's a few hours with a surplus in grid and they will pay me up to 1.16p a unit to use!

Iiiiinteresting! We’re with intelligent Octopus and do the 7.50 a unit charging off peak thing. I’m probably not on it / flexible enough to move my charging around price fluctuations!

No, they'll send the EV rescue van which can charge from it's own battery. A lot of the issues with EV appear to be the old lead/acid 12v battery tbh.
