Actually - if I put the current plate on retention (for £80) it should get the original back. That seems like OK value.
yeah, I'd be doing that in a second!

Those vacuum pipes... holy fuck!

And you should be able to sell the plate for more than £80. Win.

I was planning on writing off the £80 tbh. It might sell, I guess, but it wouldn't be quick.

You need to get out of London. More space, less ludicrous insurance. Speaking of which - the Bentley comes in at c. £300pa for me. Old, boring, lives in Berkshire. It does have occasional benefits.

I’d happily give you £50 for it.

Heh. No.

I'd be happy with a totally ordinary reg, but I'm not spending money to do that. I will do some searching.
Put the one on it on retention and DVLA will give you the old age related plate back. Then advertise the one on it on the various reg sites and you might get lucky with a further profit.

edit: it's like a didn't read any of page 4 lol
You settle up, I'll go get the Jag.

On the topic of number plates, the front one is 440mm x 140mm. That's narrower, but taller, than a standard plate. It's not wide enough to display a standard UK 7-digit reg. The plinth is a genuine Bentley part, not a random aftermarket thing. Weird.

Rear is "normal oversize" @ 21" x 6", same as you get on Range Rovers.

Edit. Huh. 440x140 is Chinese size. Somebody went to the effort of ordering an OEM overseas market part to go with their tacky registration.

The alpina B7 is a thing isn’t it? And the other three letters aren’t horrible. Might actually be worth a few quid if you can be bothered.

Would look alright on a less shite and properly spaced plate anyway tbh

This looks like the reason for the no tow bar. It has a functional diffuser underneath. A tow bar would mess that up, the attached caravan even more so.

HAS SOME ISSUES HENCE THE PRICE POINT. REQUIRES A SERVICE, AIR SUSPENSION, WARNING LIGHT, IS ON BARGAIN.
Is that
- air suspension warning light is on, or
- has air suspension, and by the way another unspecified warning light is on, or
- requires air suspension as well as a service, and a new unspecified warning light, or some other variation?

£9k for a car that definitely has an expensive problem to fix isn't as appealing as one that might have an expensive problem to fix

Does it have as much body-boot-space as this? (As kindly demonstrated in the advert pics)

I assume manufacturers also have to go through a type approval process for towing limits etc, they probably decided it really wasn’t worth the cost for the number of Bentley owners who may want to tow.

I expect anyone who asked about towing capabilities was gently ushered out of the door towards vw.

Always thought it would be a similar reason for not being able to tow with an M3 despite being structurally and mechanically very similar to other 6 pot e36s and you’d think would naturally be much better at towing.

Also noticed the x5 has a diffuser looking section under the rear bumper but doesn’t really go anywhere except up inside the bumper. Wondered if it might be to give a little airflow over the exhausts so they don’t melt the bumper or something.

Very similar ! I was in there yesterday trying to fix the lock on the through-load hatch.
