They did, but I doubt any were built. I remember having a chat with Rowan Atkinson about his long termer (in about 2006) and he didn't have anything positive to say about it.
A friend has put one to good use though, by using the rear drivetrain and suspension for a one-off 400hp 5.7 V8 Caterham 7 type car -

1 owner, not mad mileage, £2,495? Something is going to be properly up with it, surely? At least go and look. The matte wood on the dash is a wonderful thing; wish they'd been as wild with the mk2.

They've also got a silver one with nicer alloys (IMO) for the same price but it somehow looks shabbier. And another one awaiting photos. And an R-Class, again, same price. I think it might be worth my while visiting if only to have a sit in all of them back-to-back.

There are a lot of Cat cars on their Autotrader listings.

They appear to be a breakers that has branched out into selling whole cars that don't quite deserve to be scrapped. I'm under no illusions about this not being the bottom of the barrel.

I sent an enquiry via the Autotrader website and here's an interesting thing - although the number plate is hidden in the pics, the confirmation email from Autotrader includes the reg.

Hmm. So the N63 engine seems plagued by this problem. Lots and lots of accounts of people throwing plugs, coils, injectors, fuel pumps, even DMEs (which are water-cooled apparently !!) without any firm resolution. BMW NA did a "care package" (a recall) that included replacing the cam chains, guides & tensioners so I guess it's that. Not many will DIY the cam chain so no write ups anywhere.

I'm not sure I want to do another cam chain job. Not unless the car was *dirt* cheap and there's confidence of no other problems like bent valves.

M grill installed takes a chunk of value off. Why do people insist on fitting to non-M cars??

BMW themselves will plaster literally anything with M badges at the first opportunity. I'm totally past caring.

I don't really count those as anything to do with actual ///M - they've not got any real heritage with the model.
