Pretty rough, and has no online MOT history, meaning it's probably been off the road for *at least* fifteen years. Our one's way nicer so £6k + fees for this seems very steep to me.

Very nice

I sometimes have a quiet hankering for an i8 but I'm not keen on some of the colour schemes, the ones with blue accents look a bit gaudy. The purple works.

Gorgeous, and I’ve contemplated an i8. Not sure if you can buy one through the business and get cheap company car tax.

12%, so not comparable to a full EV. And such a high new list price that it is prohibitive.

I'll have to have a look at prices, but if timing chain problems are common/likely there's got to be value in one with it all done.

The timing chain isn't difficult, it's just time consuming. Less than £100 in parts for the chain & guides but it's most of a day's work so something like £600-£800 at a specialist. Plus there's bound to be some "while we're there..." costs. Which is probably why there's a lot of cars out there needing it done; it's hard to justify spending that much on a car that's only worth £2-3k.

Yet still you see plenty of "timing chain so no belt to worry about" ads
A car with likely, costly pita problems addressed has to be worth more than one without (even if it appears fine at the time of sale).

I've driven an RCZ R and it was a lot better than I thought it would be, certainly more fun than a TTS which is similar size/power.

Wouldn't want one though, interior was the same as my old 308, felt cheap for what would have been an expensive car when new.

Potentially no need to even retire - IIRC they recently introduced a new visa that would enable UK citizens to WFH out there. The wife was looking, especially given her job is now entirely WFH!

My mate's brother had one - the hottest one they did. Was supposedly a hoot to drive, but spent a lot of time being fixed. No surprises there

Sadly, my current contract, despite being 100% WFH, for security reasons requires “home” to be in the UK.

It’d be lovely to have somewhere like that to escape to for a couple of months between contracts.
