Fixed with a system reset. Power up electrics, hold down volume knob for 30 secs, release, then press. System reboots and everything connects as normal

Re: Your fleet running reports
Had a look under the merc the other day and the rear tyres are pretty much slicks
Still, they seem to have worn nice and evenly which is a good sign that the tracking is as it should be. It’s a bit too early for winters so it’s getting a pair of 245/40/17 ps4 to match the fronts which are probably only half worn. Still a good tyre and would rather have a matching set than put 5s on.
F1autocentre cheaper than anywhere else I could find online fitted, and been happy with their service in the past.

Jaguar XJ8 Wafto-Matic Update
Well the magic carpet ride is back, with two new front shocks and top mounts. £411 lighter, though.
Next stop is play in the steering, which I am desperately hoping does not need a new rack as they are hens teeth expensive.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Not impressed. Have used F1autocentre several times for things I couldn’t be bothered doing myself, but now they’re revealed themselves as just as bad as all the other chains.
Apparently while fitting the tyres they checked the alignment and it was 2 degrees out causing excessive inside edge wear.
Running slightly too much pressure, but they’re the best wearing pair of rear tyres I’ve ever seen on a German car. There most definitely isn’t any edge wear of note. Wonder how many people fall for it.
Guess I’ll try somewhere else next time. formulaoneautocentre

2 degrees out, without any visible feathering on the tread-blocks …. Impressive.
In other news - mrs mik’s car is consistently showing higher range since we got all 4 wheels pointing in the same direction.

Pretty sure I’d be able to see by eye if it was 2 degrees out

Re: Your fleet running reports
My wife went out for lunch today and took the Clubman. She filled up with fuel on the way home and drove it until it conked out.
She'd filled it up with petrol <facepalm>
Reckon this is terminal ? For the car, primarily.

Nah - mrs mik did that to my Leon TDI when it was just 3 weeks old.Sundayjumper wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 4:15 pm My wife went out for lunch today and took the Clubman. She filled up with fuel on the way home and drove it until it conked out.

Drain the tank and ensure diesel in the fuel pump before restarting - you’ll be fine.
Re: Your fleet running reports
100% depends on how the pump handles petrol.
Now if it was a mix of petrol and diesel there is still lubrication. If it only had petrol go through it then it’s unlikely to not be damaged in some way, whether that’s terminal though is the issue.
It doesn’t take a lot of petrol for an ignition to not occur so I wouldn’t personally worry, just drain every last drop and then fill with quality diesel with lots of lovely additives.
Dave!

Re: Your fleet running reports
Just got home with the Clubman on the trailer. The AA would only recover a max of ten miles, and also wanted a £250 excess because it’s not a breakdown per se (the “it’s your own stupid fault” clause).
The car had two “blobs” of diesel on the gauge when she filled up and it took about fifty quid of petrol. Probably a 4:1 mix of petrol:diesel. It’s a small tank. She drove about two miles before it started juddering and was able to get off the A3 into a side road another mile later.
I don’t have any containers to drain 40+ litres of fuel into and I don’t even know how I’d dispose of it afterwards. I’m erring on the “CBA” approach of just getting someone to fix it. I already spent the whole of last weekend fixing the other MINI. Not really in the mood.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Oh, and the Vito wasn’t very happy towing the MINI. Felt like it wasn’t boosting properly. So that needs investigation / fixing too.
Re: Your fleet running reports
AA used to charge £100 or so to come out, drain it and dispose for members. They had a special van for it.
They put 4 litres in and then you are on your own.
I arranged it for my father in law a couple of years ago.
ETA AA Fuel Assist
Why they didn't offer this is another story !

Re: Your fleet running reports
My wife is an expert on this. She's filled the Alhambra with petrol 3 times now, always the day before we're due to drive to Europe. Luckily, the PD engine is bomb proof, so no damage is done, apart from my wallet. It usually costs us circa £300 all in, plus a new tank of diesel.
Cheers.

Well, you've only yourself to blame now, Gwaredd
SJ; empty it into the Galaxie. It'll only be about 1/4 of a tank so will dilute nicely - or did you fill it recently? Cannae remember.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Disposing of fuel properly for Joe Blogs seems difficult.
Find some old barrels and mark it up as red diesel and leave outside front of house. It won't be there long.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Yeah, I’d probably buy a couple of petrol cans and add a bit occasionally to the tank of something old and not particularly fussy about fuel
