At this point monetary donations are probably best, so that we can get the whole process moving quickly and also respond to the needs of aid organsiations, as there's a changing situation around what people really need and we want to make it's the right stuff going out there

I've managed to find a really good facebook group which has a lot of people on the ground by the border who are updating the needs of people. It seems that 30kw diesel heaters and high quality winter jackets are top of the list right now. I'm tempted to wait until Germany then clear out a Lidl of food that's need to save on all the import hassle.

Donations up to £1,500 already

Thanks again everyone, it's really amazing to receive your support. We're getting crazily close to £2k already

In other updates, someone who lives a couple of miles from SJ has been in touch asking if we could collect their mother, aunt and uncle. They evacuated from Lviv a couple of days after strikes started and have been hiding in the countryside, but now running out of supplies so heading for the Polish border. Their family are arranging UK Visas, so we could bring them back to their family.

Also a dealer has offered a 20% discount on a 9-seater Merc Vito, we're just seeing if there are any other offers come in today before making a decision - this one's in Wales so a bit of a trek to get it back.

The Merc is also very basic, but we're in a hurry so it would do the job if no other offers come up.

20% off to buy it? Or rent it?

A couple of links have been added to the post I put up on the Disco3/4 forum - not sure if it is worth following any of those (?)

To buy - we would flip it when we get back, so the discount would mean we shouldn't be out of pocket on the vehicle.

Thanks for the nudge, I took the first idea and emailed the MDs at Hertz, Enterprise, Sixt and also the head of PR at MB themselves but not getting any responses.

Will follow up on the other MB Club links too.

Also - understanding what aid to source and take is utterly bewildering, the sources of information are chaotic and fractious. Combined with the fact I've never purchased medical equipment in my life, so when someone says they need haemostatic granules and tourniquets it feels like someone saying they need a saloon car, I'm like which one, what size, etc etc. We know that people definitely need food and that's always going to be easy to source - plus it's my area of experitse

Excellent work guys - good on you. I've chucked some money in.

On the Merc front, are there any forumites that could "daisy-chain" it down to you? Might be a pain with insurance though I guess.

Wales is a big place lol

I'm near Swansea and would gladly get it across the bridge if it's relatively near and if helpful ?
