My Merc sounds like Mike's EQV. The autonomous driving assistance system will give a bit of haptic feedback if you change lanes without indicating, and it'll intervene and steer back if it feels you drift between lanes/central reservation markings on the motorway. I've never felt the need to turn it off as it's not intrusive.

Off motorway the steering wheel turns (automagically) a little slowly for normal back roads - I think I read somewhere that the rules neutered the turn rate a while ago.
