Mattress recommendations please!
Mattress recommendations please!
I’m old. My back hurts. I think our old memory foam one has had it.
Any great recommendations on how to have THE BEST SLEEP EVER which doesn’t involve a large amount of whisky every night, because I’m all over that part already.

Re: Mattress recommendations please!
I’ve bought two Emma mattresses and they’re very good. Everyone’s different though so it pays to try before you buy or get a mattress with a trial offer (I think Emma is 200 days trial)

Re: Mattress recommendations please!
Emma sounds like the sort of person I'd like to sleep with.
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: Mattress recommendations please!
Emma and Eve were the two which seem to do well in reviews, so that’s a vote for Emma…

Yeah, this is starting to sound like some sort of escort review thread.

Re: Mattress recommendations please!
We have an Emma on our wooden frame bed. It's comfy and I've only had the odd sore neck/shoulders but not at all since buying some pillows for how I actually sleep. Think we got 40% off on a deal through their own website and paid it off over a year for the price of 4 or 5 coffees a month. Well worth it.
Edit. It does slide down the bed which is a bit annoying though. It might be worth checking the length of the bed as one might be a tighter fit than another

I went to John Lewis and tried every one. In the end I spent a grand in one. Best money ever spent. 1/3 if you life is spent in bed so spend a bit of cash.
No point in asking for recommendations. You have to try yourself

What pillows did you go for?KevH18 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 10:11 pm We have an Emma on our wooden frame bed. Yeah, that’s the bit I’m struggling for time with at the moment and a lot of these seem to have 100 day return options etc.

Re: Mattress recommendations please!
We have an Outlast memory foam job that is far from new but still very comfy. Would definitely buy again.
Re: Mattress recommendations please!
Some cheap ones from Home Bargains but I'd never looked at them being different for side/back sleepers. Only taken 34 years to realise there was a difference!Ascender wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 10:13 pmWhat pillows did you go for?KevH18 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 10:11 pm We have an Emma on our wooden frame bed. We went with a local manufacturer Burgess Beds up in Rossendale, Lancs. Handmade and supply to various showrooms including a few that supply to the stars (mainly the footballing clientele round here). They used to supply to House of Fraser as well. That said it was really cost effective - £600 IIRC for the mattress. Not very practical for you though as they don't do online sales AFAIK!
Ours is 10yo and due for replacement now I'd say, but it has been mega comfortable. As others have said though, you really should try before you buy. We spent a good while with their sales guy trying various different mattresses out and the variation is huge.
If you're feeling flush you can buy from some of the hotel groups as well - Sofitel sell their own range and they are some of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in.

I got this one when we bought our new bed frame last year. It’s great, was even comfortable while I was sleeping on the floor for three months waiting for the frame to turn up

Re: Mattress recommendations please!
I strongly prefer memory foam matrasses.
Definitely not cheap, but I'm super happy with Tempur matras & pillow.

Re: Mattress recommendations please!
I've had a Tempur mattress for years and would NOT recommend it. It became too soft for my liking very quickly and they wouldn't do anything about it when I contacted them to complain about that fact. Not worth the price IMO. These days I'd probably go for a really good, firm pocket sprung mattress with a memory foam topper.

That's just reminded me that I'm sure we took a picture of a mattress label at a hotel we stayed-in last year because it was amazing.Swervin_Mervin wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 10:52 pmIf you're feeling flush you can buy from some of the hotel groups as well - Sofitel sell their own range and they are some of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in.
"Hey Siri, show me pictures I've taken of mattresses".

Re: Mattress recommendations please!
I can't abide memory foam mattresses. My favourite has been a reasonably priced (~£600 or so for king size) pocket sprung mattress from an independent place where I tried lying on everything before I bought.
Even if you don't buy from them (and I never have, so don't know if their products are any good) John Ryan have a massive amount of info on their website: https://johnryanbydesign.co.uk/understa ... s-choices/
Current mattress is a more expensive pocket sprung one from Feather and Black, bought to go with our new bed a couple of years ago and it's fine. You do need to get the firmness right when going pocket sprung though; they feel softer when you sit on them than they do when lying on them. Definitely recommend trying before you buy if you can.

Re: Mattress recommendations please!
We've been very pleased with ours. But as it was bought from Warren Evans, that's a pointless recommendation.
