Used car prices 2022
Do we all reckon they will continue to rise?
Car production slumped to its worst performance since 1984 last month as manufacturers continue to wrestle with a shortage of semiconductors.
Output fell by 28.7pc in November to 75,756 units, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). It marks the fifth consecutive month of decline.
Mike Hawes, chief executive of the SMMT, described the figures as “incredibly worrying”.
Despite the overall decline, electric vehicle production continues to surge, accounting for roughly a third of all production over the month./i]

Re: Used car prices 2022
Yep. The manufacturers have figured out that they can sell 25% fewer cars but make 50% more profit than in 2019 and customers are happy enough to pay that. Why change?
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: Used car prices 2022
I think decent petrol sports cars will be a sound place to put money in the coming years. Who wants to keep a tesla long with a defunct battery?
Re: Used car prices 2022
The batteries aren't a massive issue, are they, or has that changed recently?
Motors or drivetrain parts (logic boards etc) might be more of a pain longer term given how tight Tesla are on their parts reuse policies...

Re: Used car prices 2022
I think for anything special and not used much I'd stick with an old fashioned combustion engine and keep the daily EV for as a lease...
Sadly during my research to buy a used supercar I've had to rule out the P1 and LaFerrari due to the replacement costs for a bricked battery which is becoming a common problem now

Re: Used car prices 2022
Did you see the fella blow up his tesla the other day as the replacement battery was like 20k. Reading more into it you can get it done for 5k. Even so its a big cost if your old car is only worth 15.
@Mito Man leasing, yes probably.

Cheep
Re: Used car prices 2022
The chip shortage is fucking up more than cars now- Worcester are having major supply issues for boilers and their controls
Re: Used car prices 2022
Nope, fitting boilers is what I do for a living
Re: Used car prices 2022
It's been fucking up everything all year. We have a £7m back order book at work because of this alongside shortages of other stuff like ingredients for plastic. We are forward paying for components and raw materials through to the end of 2023 just to make sure we can secure supply. Even then it's bloody volatile!! Add to that the crazy freight costs and lack of availability by sea and air. It's crackers.
