Home charger (Zappi2) for Mrs mik’s E-Troj has been playing up with increasing over the last 6 weeks or so. Sporadically stopping after delivering approx 3kwh - the telltale always being that the cable would be unlocked by the car - which it isn’t set to do.

Often we noticed (via the app or by walking into the garage) and we were never left unable to execute a planned journey, but it has been increasing fucking annoying.

Downloaded the latest firmware for the home hub, and the charger itself (the latter updating from rev 33 to rev 142!) but it didn’t fix the issue.

Manufacturer tech hotline talked me through a factory reset, and renewing the link to the home hub. Perfect since then thankfully.

Technology seems very annoying.

Another MOT on the ML. Just a gearbox oil change and it’s all up to date service wise.

Polished the TTs headlights and put 3 coats of wax on them and they are so much better. It needs a service though.

Took Boxster in for its roof fixing again. My god it was pissing it down at 745, like a monsoon, so had my second shower of the day. Found 20 quid leaving the garage and as I'm so nice left with the tuna to see if any of the folks on her yard dropped it.

Charity done for the day.

Fooking sunny now

Not my fleet, but I'm very pleased to say my FiL has finally got rid of his Bongo. It was an awful car.

He's now got an Alphard. I'm not totally down with the exterior styling, but the engine seems very nice and the interior is quite pleasant. Definitely an improvement from the Bongo.

Earlier model, like this:

It's the side skirts that get me, seems like an awkward attempt to make a bus look sporty.

We've been using the in-law's previous gen Alfart, it does baby duties perfectly, abundance of space, just a shame it drives like a boat.

Bongo's are a great design for a weekend/overnight VAN, shame they are unreliable and rust and rather dated design.

You lot are a smart bunch. Most of the time. I think.

I want to ask some advice.

As mentioned in this thread, the 650 has a leak from the active ARB. My 650 is an E64.

The E60/61/63/64 could all have the option for the active ARB, but they don't always share the same part number for it - E61 is same as E64, but E63 and E60 are not.

Interestingly, RealOEM says that the part fitted to the E61/64 is compatible with all models, but the same part for the E60/63 is NOT compatible with all models. So the theme appears that the heavier cars get a different active ARB, and while the part itself looks identical accross the range, the one for the 61/64 is ever so slightly heavier.

Reason I ask is because I'm struggling to source specific part for my car but I can source the one for the E60/E63.

Give it a go? Or hold out for the right one?

What’s the cost involved - for the part, and for the fitting (and potential re-fitting) ?

Personally I’d be inclined to give it a go. But that’s based on doing the spannering myself at home. If there’s a lot of ££££S involved it might be better to do it right, do it once.

Yeah, that makes sense.

I can literally only find one replacement that has the proper part number! It's £300 delivered Vs £150 or so for the 'wrong' one.

Garage quoted me £240 labour.

All the eBay sellers list these parts as compatible for all models with the option, not realising that it's technically model specific. But in fairness, someone on the 6 series group says he fitted the E60 one to his E64, fitted perfectly and seems to be operating fine.

It may be much like the ABS pumps where they’re all the same part but have 1000 different part numbers due to the slight different calibrations they run for various weights and wheelbases. So it should work but you may lap the Nurburgring 3 seconds slower.
How about not having a sig at all?

The paintwork is finished! It’s actually been finished for a while, but the new wheels took ages to arrive and needed painting, but it’s already taken seven years so does a few more weeks matter?

Excuse the average photos taken by my Dad. His phone can’t cope with the shiny white and is making a mess of the colour. Lack of fuel means that I’ve not gone up to give it a final check, but I saw it 90% done a few weeks ago.

A few interior jobs to do before I take it to Cornwall. I’ve got some rear seats from a 2012 galaxy that I think might work well in the back with kids seats, plus some new door trims to fit.

I also need to double check that these new wheels don’t catch on full articulation. If they do I’ll swap them with my Defender.

It was CJTallis in Hinckley.

Here’s some marginally better photos.

I know the wheels are the right colour but the white makes them look shabby!
