Your fleet running reports
Re: Your fleet running reports
Mito passed the MOT cum laude. Its done 900 miles in 15 months at about 50p a mile. Still cheaper than any other method of getting around
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: Your fleet running reports
Up GTi had the 3year/30k service, only 8 months after the last service, I'm piling on the miles.
It's been running 0w20 oil, which must be like water. I thought this was a bit too thin (economy over longevity, probably) but the specialist confirmed it's definately still what VW recommend so that's gone back in. Some have been switching to 5w30, but I've no idea what real world difference this would atually make.

Quite pleased with myself. The knackered speaker on the Cayenne was an obvious opportunity to upgrade, even just slightly, but they’re a weird proprietary size and nobody lists adapters for the Cayenne. I could make some out of MDF but... I CBA with that kind of thing any more. So after much googling of pictures and part numbers I decided adapters for a VW T5 look about the same and I chanced £6.61 on a pair. They’re a perfect fit And once bolted in place they’re plenty sturdy too, much better than I expected for the price.
165mm adapter because I had some spare 165mm speakers lying around but another version will take an eight incher. Upgrade-itis ahoy...

Have had a soft spot for them since I was a teenager; thought they’re rather cool looking!Rich B wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 11:22 pm my 2nd car was a ph1 R19 16v.
It was a decent car - I bought it for £1k, someone drove into the rear qtr and it was written off and I got £950 payout, I bought it back from them for £50 then sold it unrepaired for £400! Shame really, it would have lasted for years more.

Spent the last couple of days driving a new Corolla Estate Hybrid (1.8)
Underpowered, I think is the word I'm looking for here
Nice enough to drive once it's up to speed though, did 400 miles in 2 days and no aches so the seats must be half decent.
Steers itself on radar cruise on the motorway, as long as you keep your hands on the wheel. Its a very odd feeling the wheel moving in your hands. It will also brake to a complete stop and then set off again which is great in traffic.
Its a painful experience getting up to speed though, normally accompanied by a spell at 4500rpm for the duration. But once it's up there it seems to sit at about 1400-1800 rpm and uses battery power a surprising amount.
Did 58.7 MPG over 2 days, which I thought was impressive, been sat at 75-80 constantly as well which I guess isn't what most of these do, as they seem to mainly be taxis.
Would be interesting to see what the 2.0 version is like, but I wouldn't buy one of these, too slow and noisy.

I had a Lexus IS300 for a few months and I couldn't believe how good on fuel it was. I was doing a good 3000 miles a month and it was always in to 50's.16vCento wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 4:00 pm Spent the last couple of days driving a new Corolla Estate Hybrid (1.8)

I e a Renault Captur at the minute, doing a 9 mile
Run from cold twice a day and lots of general running about and it’s sat dead on 50mpg, 500 mile range too.
They seem to have got the right combination of power and engine size. It’s certainly not struggling to keep pace and get a move on either.
Dave!

Re: Your fleet running reports
I have groaning from the rear end and the right hand side is sitting lower than the left.
(This is the BMW incidentally before the expected comments arrive...)
I'm assuming a broken spring (had the same with the A8) rather than rusty wishbones are the cause.

Yep. Got mine done under warranty but they’d only change the broken one, not the pair
Re: Your fleet running reports
Would there be a reason to replace the pair? Do spring rates degrade over time?Sundayjumper wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 2:28 pm Yep. Got mine done under warranty but they’d only change the broken one, not the pair

Similar corrosion, similar fatigue.
I would always replace as a pair.

Re: Your fleet running reports
My Dads Focus CC snapped a front nearside spring and i told him to change the pair. Garage said it was a waste of money which my Dad wanted to hear. One month later the other side went and ripped a huge hole in the tyre.
That'll learn him
Re: Your fleet running reports
Yeah, my wife's fiesta ST snapped a front spring, then a month or so later the other side went.

Dampers have gone as well.
Not suspension though, bootlid. If you are standing over it when remote releasing it will take your head off it opens so fast!

Re: Your fleet running reports
Note to self - get helper springs for bootlid release so I can do the popping the boot wide open from the key thing.
Instead it just making a pauper-esque 'thunk' and lifting a quarter inch

Hurrah for USB battery jump starters.
Decided to put the Fabia back on the trickle charger ahead of autosoloing recommencing in a couple of weeks. Battery appeared dead so trickle charger not happy. Charged up the USB jump starter, attached it to the car, jump started immediately. Ran for a couple of minutes. Turned off. Attached trickle charger. Now happy.

New (phat) MPS4S rears fitted today - the Supersports still had 3mm of tread remaining but I was keen to get back to a matching set again- MPS4S having been on the front since Sep20 and have impressed.
Had a good chat with a 67yr old bloke with his mk1 MX5 race car queued up for an MOT. Started racing at 62 when he retired - and is feckin loving it.
Celebrated with a 30-off mile x-country loop to get rid of all the mould release compound ossifer. It has everything from 2nd gear 135Deg corners to mile long straights where you could probably hit 140 easily - were one so inclined.
Passed a Toyota “Ute” going in the opposite direction on a wriggly section who gave me severals of his horn - clearly unable to contemplate that an Evora may be more agile than his truck.
Tyres felt a bit “wobbling on full treadblocks” - a slight drop in immediacy of response, but no question the grip was there - need to explore further.

Don't forget to get your £50 off, promotion is currently on.

Re: Your fleet running reports
This was via a BlackCircles deal - never used them before - I pushed the fitting date out as far as possible.
