I genuinely thought he'd passed a few years ago. Still, a good innings and that when you think F1, you think Walker says it all about his impact on the sport, and motorsport coverage in general.

Lovely reading all the tributes to him. Loved by everyone. Had no idea he was a tank commander in WW2 - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/56355693

Are they sure it was him and not someone else?

Odd ending in that obituary:
"Sports commentary has moved on to the point where the mistakes that made Walker famous would probably not be tolerated any more."

Although I attributed Murray's mistakes to over enthusiasm and age, whereas Croftie makes mistakes because he is just an idiot.

It doesn’t feel like 20 years since he hung up his mic. Still the iconic voice of F1. RIP Muddly.

Me three.

His enthusiastic, pants on fire commentary was probably one of the reasons why I loved watching Motorsport in the 1980s and 90s as a youngster.
