Same here - I'm getting less and less confident about getting back home to see my parents this year. :(

We have taken the last two weeks of August off and will probably book the ferry anyway but I still think there'll be quarantine and social distancing requirements which will kybosh it all. We'll need to find some Self Catering near where my folks live that will take deposit bookings but they're rare in Ireland. We've already lost £1500 on flights from last summer so don't want to blow another wedge of cash this summer

Cornwall's a big place - just avoid the main tourist traps. When we went last Aug we were surprised it was nowhere near as busy as we'd expected, where we were.

Keeping my fingers crossed that we'll be able to go back down there at the end of May.

Everywhere will be price-gouging this summer (assuming we're allowed to go anywhere) - the holiday industry has a lot of lost revenue to make up for.
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

I don't think the rest of the world will open up without lengthy quarantines as no other country is as vaccinated as we are. Maybe the USA and Israel...

If I'm stuck in the UK then I'm happy enough with the beaches of the Costa del Kent rather then paying 200% over for some staycation.
How about not having a sig at all?

Yellow card for Mito

A staycation is staying at home, not staying in the UK.

First warning.

That's a snappier description than 'spending a week in the house drunkenly alternating between masturbating, crying and ordering takeaway'

Glad you had your jab Simon. Don't forget that the protection doesn't kick in for a few weeks.

Had Pfizer-BioNTech which is apparently only a 3rd useful against the Sarf Africa version of c19. Even so I'm happy to do my bit to get back to normal.

I thought that was the one that was most effective against the SA variant? I'm sure I heard that somewhere. :? They're probably only saying things like that quietly though so that people don't demand a certain vaccine.

Researchers find South African COVID variant could reduce Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine antibody protection by two-thirds.

The Guardian is reporting Oxford as only 10% effective... :shock:

Edit - report from Feb 8th. May not be current and valid

ZA = South Africa.

SA = Saudi Arabia.
