Arse.

We're back in a Level 3 lockdown again today - three community cases and bang, no messing.

So what's the end game for New Zealand in this Dave - Keep up the current measures until the whole population can be vaccinated? Vaccine Passports, tests and short term Isolation for all visitors going forward ?

We need to learn to live with this now, that’s the end game post vaccinating the most vulnerable.

Agreed. Although I'm happy for them to keep this lockdown going (for a short while) longer if it means it's a.) the last one, and b.) the road map about what happens next is clear and involves some semblance of normal life.

Yeah, I think that's the general feeling isn't it, we can put up with this one being an extended period if it does the job of breaking the cycle.

The question is - what will happen in November when the jab doesnt actually seem to work.

I know of someone who has tested positive 5 weeks after receiving the vaccination

False positive because of the antibodies?

Do they have severe illness?

It doesn't have 100% efficacy so people will still get it, it should reduce serious illness considerably though (I hope!).

You can still catch it once you've had the jab. The first jab doesn't start to become effective until around wk8 IIRC, and even then you still need the 2nd jab ideally.

I've read 2 weeks, which I thought would be too soon

I suppose that would make sense, as they'll have antibodies already presumably

Why did they take the test, if vaccinated and with no symptoms?

I had a letter saying you're meant to have it every week or 2 weeks (can't remember) if you go out the house even with no symptoms.
How about not having a sig at all?

Found it, they started sending loads of letters and texts when the Kent variant was first discovered. Didn't get the letter in London though...
