Chainsawing. a ship?
Apparently yes you can.

Although there's no good close up video of it in action that I've been able to find.

Holy shit at first I thought it would have carbide cutting teeth like a tunnel bore but it’s just brute force with a big old chain.
How about not having a sig at all?

Re: Chainsawing. a ship?
I was imagining one of the diamond rope saws like they use for cutting slabs of rock.
Nope, just a great big fat chain.

Shitting hell, the pictures further into the page showing a slice of neat decks with cars piled in them is....well, it gives a sense of perspective on what they're doing there

Working in marine insurance must be fun.

Re: Chainsawing. a ship?
I think of all the insurance industries, marine - and probably political risk - must be the only ones to make you go 'oh shit, really???' every few months.
Re: Chainsawing. a ship?
This has happened before though, right? I remember a similar method a while ago, except that time it did actually have some sort of serrated wire or something. I can't seem to find it at the moment though as all search results are just coming back with the Golden Ray.

Evil Mr Singh (a baddie in a Clive Cussler novel) talked about this chain method. Pretty noisy in the book at least.
Re: Chainsawing. a ship?
Book 1 of Three body problem has a related but more rapid version.
Re: Chainsawing. a ship?
This is what the wife does, she sorts out all the documentation and checks that the sums everyone have done are ok and that the under-writers get the right amount. Just the premiums are crazy and when it all changes depending on where you are at certain times it gets quite complicated.
She also does space so satellites etc, it’s a good earner being in insurance
Dave!
Re: Chainsawing. a ship?
Apparently it took 3 weeks to cut that first section away...

Mik: It’s a Sputnik 23
Dave’s Wife: any modifications?
Mik: just the antenna remap
Dave’s wife: and the asteroid claim in 2018, was that recorded as a fault or non-fault
Mik: non-fault - he came right at me - nothing I could do!
Etc etc

@Rich B you’re a star - thanks.
Can you also do me a version involving a Heavenly Body? Preferably one that doesn’t lead to Dave coming round to my house and biting my ear off.

I read the first one and just couldn't get on with it. Didn't grab me at all.
