As Time Goes By remains one of my favourite gentle comedies of all time. That scene where Jean’s sister-in-law has been in hospital and then they receive the all-clear via telephone. The camera rounds to Palmer who sits in his chair, stares passed the camera and simply says “Bloody Woman”. The delivery, the expression, always makes me smile.
