Lockdown cookery thread.
Re: Lockdown cookery thread.
If I even give a sideways glance to some of the hot sauce on this thread I’d be in the foetal position crying for milk.

I love the encona hot sauce, Tesco’s sent an extra hot as a substitute Item once and I don’t like it at all, just too hot, a tiny drop dominates whatever it hits and has sod all flavour, just heat.
Cheers, Harry

I tried that last time out and I'd tend to agree. Gone back to the std one. I didn't find it too hot, just like you say it seemed to lack some of the flavour.integrale_evo wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 3:00 pm I love the encona hot sauce, Tesco’s sent an extra hot as a substitute Item once and I don’t like it at all, just too hot, a tiny drop dominates whatever it hits and has sod all flavour, just heat.

I've been working my way through a few Ribman sauces since someone recommended on here. Tried Buffalo, Yuzu and Holy Fuck. They're good, but I felt the Buffalo was missing that classic tang. Probably HF is the best.
I'm still not convinced they're worth the money, but they are very good.

.....and then again, about six hours later?
Edit: I've found working from home means I can proper spice things up. After all, no-ones seeing you spending half an hour on the bog crying as you suffer from the ring of fire.

Normal Buffalo Dunc? I found the bacon buffalo tangier than the HF, but I've only tried those two.duncs500 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 3:38 pm I've been working my way through a few Ribman sauces since someone recommended on here. Had this bad boy on the BBQ at the weekend. Good sear all over to get a salty crust and then 15 mins in the oven to finish off whilst I grilled some veg. Sadly I was too preoccupied eating to remember to take a picture of the finished product
Re: Lockdown cookery thread.
Yeah, normal (wife can try it that way!). It was tangier than HF but still not as much as I would expect from Buffalo sauce.Swervin_Mervin wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 5:00 pmNormal Buffalo Dunc? This is pretty good IMHO (esp on a burger mixed with mayo) and £1.50
Re: Lockdown cookery thread.
I've been mixing hot sauce with garlic mayo as a dip for homemade pizza and had some on a chicken sandwich today. Lovely!speedingfine wrote: ↑Thu Aug 13, 2020 6:24 pmhttps://groceries.morrisons.com/product ... -516451011duncs500 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 3:38 pm I've been working my way through a few Ribman sauces since someone recommended on here. I decided that it was a good idea to have a whole tin of (Branston) beans on toast for lunch today. With a teaspoon of Bacon Holf Fuck in it.

Re: Lockdown cookery thread.
Just had a glorious lunch of the following things....
- Bacon
Tattie scones
Haggis
Fried mushrooms
Scrambled eggs
Brown sauce
Re: Lockdown cookery thread.
Sounds epic.
We just had bacon from the butchers (nil water added) and a fried free-range ohh from a local farm on a crusty Morton’s roll. <licks lips>.
Mate round last weekend from Northern England who was complaining that it is impossible to describe how good Morton’s rolls are to people who haven’t had one before. You can only really get them in small shops - supermarkets don’t do them (other than the occasional v small footprint co-op. If you are ever up in the Glasgow area.....
And they have a great advertising slogan too....
