What’s a bargain basement car that’s super cheap to insure? I really want to get something small and simple but really don’t give two hoots what it is, the main thing is cheap insurance. I’ll probably only do about 2000 miles a year in it.
So far
Ford focus £855
Ford fiesta £717
Skoda Fabian £689
VW polo £635
Smart for2 £585

I’m assuming it won’t be cheap, but how much is a MINI Clubman for comparison ?

VW Fox, though the random way insurance goes it wouldn't surprise if you could insure a Passat or Phaeton for less.

Suffice to say it looks like
insurance bottoms out around £600 for a range of small, light, little runaround.
After reviewing all that lot, a
Smart For2 does feel like one of the most appealing, just for a laugh. As long as I can get a bike onto it somehow...

I thought the 'trick' (sorry, it's 2023, 'hack') with insurance was to buy big old rare barges that didn't really have any accident history. All the small cars have been usually bounced around buy youngsters.
Tried Volvo's?
My parents neighbour kid imported some big old American thing when he was 18 which was far cheaper than anything else he could insure.
