Some thoughts deleted just in case someone reading this hasn't seen it yet. My main question before the big confessional was how did he get hold of that nice blue BMW (M4?). Still, enjoyed it a lot. Now to decide whether to start on Killing Eve or watch Jack Ryan first.

I binged Jack Ryan in pretty much one sitting. Save it for a full day if you're that way inclined!

Certainly the blu-tac around the BNC connectors wasn’t all that convincing.

I've been enjoying Trust on BBC. Donald Sutherland is fantastic as John Paul Getty. He's so tight he'd make a Yorkshireman proud
Good performances from Hilary Swank and Brendon Fraser too. An interesting sorry about a fucked up family!

Re: Decent Recent TV
I didn’t really like the first episode of The Bodyguard
The whole train scene with the police about to shoot a fellow policeman. All that shouting and screaming in what was a tense and dangerous situation was stupid
Then, generic characters in generic situations
Boring

Another thumbs up for Killing Eve. Stylish, dark, funny, utterly brilliant.JonMad wrote: Tue Sep 18, 2018 6:49 amExcellent, I'll start this one after Bodyguard finishes. Or maybe I"ll watch the Jack Ryan series first. One can only watch so much TV. Must be due another Homeland series soon? And a new series of Mr Robot would be welcomed.Swervin_Mervin wrote: Mon Sep 17, 2018 10:51 pm Killing Eve Another stunner, based on the 1st episode. Also very dark, but funny as well. Great cast with Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer and Kim Bodnia.

I enjoyed Bodyguard. They wrapped up a lot in the last episode so it felt like the pace shifted up a few gears, but the whole thing was great. And being a bit Line of Duty is hardly much of a criticism.
Been watching Wanderlust and enjoying it. Feels a bit out there for a BBC production. Nice to see some of This Country’s cast in it too, though don’t try to make any other links to This Country

Re: Decent Recent TV
just got round to watching this - i enjoyed it, but the ending was all a bit Scooby Doo. Everyone just happily admitting everything. Plenty of holes too, but not enough to ruin it.Jobbo wrote: Sat Sep 29, 2018 8:05 am I enjoyed Bodyguard. Just started this myself, two eps in. Cast is very good but she is outstanding, the way she changes from faux "normal" to stone cold is excellently done. I'd imagine.NotoriousREV wrote: Fri Sep 28, 2018 10:21 pmAnother thumbs up for Killing Eve. A Discovery of Witches - enjoying it so far. And not just because of the ridiculously stunning lead character!
Cheers,

That too. It's in danger of becoming Twilight but the acting is decent.IanF wrote: Sun Sep 30, 2018 11:40 pm A Discovery of Witches - enjoying it so far. And not just because of the ridiculously stunning lead character!![]()

She’s done good for a Scouse lass. I always say there are 2 types of actor: those like Michael Caine who always seem to play a version of themselves, and those who transform into completely different people. Jodie Comer is in that 2nd group.Barry wrote: Sun Sep 30, 2018 11:31 pmJust started this myself, two eps in. She’s nothing like Villanelle when she’s herself. Facial expressions, mannerisms are all completely different.

Another thumbs up for Killing Eve.
Started Black Earth Rising yesterday. Doesn't pull any punches, does it? Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Finished Jack Ryan, pretty good. Onto Killing Eve now I think.

Re: Decent Recent TV
Didn't realise this had started, we were at the Bodleian Library on a day they were filming and might've ended up in the background.
Enjoyed Killing Eve as well but found the tone lurching from screwball spy capers to stabby stabby mutilation a bit jarring.
I guess it's following books I haven't read but I found the "finale" a touch irritating.
