DHL Van Driver

I don't want to be one of "those" guys, I really don't, but I thought this took the biscuit.

Driving in a 50 limit I passed a cyclist and as I pulled back in was aware of something by my shoulder. A DHL van taking a flyer past me before we got to the NSL. He carried on past the car in front of me too.

A bit reckless, I thought, but it's a long straight boring road.

He wasn't making as much progress as he thought so a few minutes later I was behind him. He started tailgating a learner.

And then went on to overtake them in a 30mph residential area

DHL don't seem to have anywhere you can send them complaints. I'm guessing they wouldn't be able to keep up with them.

Both pretty well sighted roads by the looks of it?

But overtaking in a 30 will likely involve breaking the speed limit.

Hit them up on Twitter. When a water company van driver passed me (and loads of other traffic) at 80mph+ on the hard shoulder on the M4 I took to Twitter to contact the company in question, and they took it very seriously.

yes, but risking being labelled as argumentative, it doesn’t say that in the post. Overtaking someone going slow in a 30 is not wrong (tailgating is).

If the learner was going 30 and the van went past at 50 then that’s being a dick.

He's crossing the chevrons Rich, or whatever the correct term for this is. That can't be ideal can it?

Anyway if he wasn't driving like a dick, Steve wouldn't have posted the thread. He was there at the time, you know, in the reals

Nothing wrong with that, it’s the white lines either side that matter - solid or broken. That’s broken, so fine to cross.

That’s what happens when you get paid 10p a delivery or whatever it is.

The boat sailed on that one a looong time ago  I'd assumed you were just doing your usual Devil's advocate routine here !

The driver was being a dick, simples.

Proper devil's advocate: DHL are dicks to put so much pressure on a driver that he feels he has to drive like that.

Consumers are dicks for demanding free next day delivery on their £2 SCART lead that leads to companies putting pressure on DHL to pressure their drivers to drive like that for so little money.

As with so many things in today's world.

It's all Amazon's fault.

Did consumers actually demand it ? Or did one of the Big Boys (prob. Amazon) start offering it and the others followed suit and consumers didn't ever say no ?

How well would that go down with a judge if it had gone all pear-shaped and the van had hit something / someone ?

D: Sorry for all the firey death, m'lud, DHL are a twats.

J: No worries mate, carry on.

Latent demand is still demand.

Breaking: Delivery drivers drive like dicks.

Tweet the pics, that's usually the way to get The Man's attention these days.

the pictures show nothing illegal happening though. Were they from a video?

The 2nd one is a clear due care offence and the 3rd further supporting evidence.

Not that it will change anything.
