There’s an old couple who have a laser speed reader which displays the car speed on a sign sort of like those road signs you see which show you your exact speed. They set this kit up on most days where the weather is fair on the road leading to the village where my parents live and note down every car which speeds. Whenever we see them we mash the accelerator just to really rile them up and that little stretch of road is now used as an impromptu drag strip by many people just to see who can hit the highest speed

A mate of mine has a photo from a Speed Camera showing all 4 wheels locked up, smoke everywhere and an indicated speed of 91 MPH.
He's rather proud of it.

Considering the speeds we drive at times, no matter how sensible or our concentration level, when we get caught it’s not the end of the world.
I find I drive slower in most places anyway and pick my moments when it’s clear as it’s far more fun.

Pottering along on a motorway getting zapped isn't the game.
Last time I was actually done at 83 was 830pm on a Sunday going back home to Leeds. The copper even apologised as I was part of their target. 20 years ago.

Be careful what you wish for; the last time I encountered a police car on the motorway (M25) he acted like a road raging fool, swerving in front of me and putting the lights on, slowing down to 60, turning them off and then swerving in front of me again when I went to overtake - and that happened more than once. The traffic behind (not so much, it was small hours o'clock) must have wondered what was going on. It's the first time I wish I had a dashcam. I had to follow him off the m-way to find out what his problem was, he never stopped me, though thinking now it may not have been a traffic car (do the Met have traffic?)
I certainly wouldn't have trusted his judgement in any given situation.

I got speed awareness courses both times.
3 Hours and 58 minutes about Speeding in 30 MPH zones and 2 minutes about speeding on the Motorway. (and about half that was taking about Fog). I'm not altogether sure the crime and the punishment are joined up here...

I follow North Yorks police as they often tell you where they are but they also post a lot about the big numbers people get caught doing.

I’m guessing flipping the bird in itself isn’t something that they can get you for but it was the laser jammer in his case?
