Performance Direct

Post by drcarlos »

Utter fucking shambles.

Long story short they cancelled my policy out of the blue because they made an admin error as they claim to missing docs. I had sent them the documents they needed (obviously with a copy of a sent mail) and spoken to someone in the legal team there confirming that they had them.

Phoned them again, short wait on hold and resent the docs I had an apology and the car back on cover. Having been out driving it after I'd had the cancellation notice (didn't check my email for a couple of hours) I was understandably furious as it could have had serious implications.

Not a lot of choice for insuring a modified car (well one that mapped anyway) so I may end up having to renew next year but I'll certainly check around before i hit the renew button.

Have you tried a proper specialist ? My Compact is insured with Reis who were recommended by several people. It’s not modified like yours is, but all the stuff it does have they didn’t bat an eyelid. I’m covered for my Autosolos & Targas, they’ll cover track days etc as well. Very easy to deal with too.

+1 for Reis, best insurance company I've ever used.

Im insured through Manning UK for the Lotus and the 240. Mods are declared on the lotus. They have been great to deal with. You get an actual person for your account. I can email them directly.

When i changed address i emailed them - within 10 mins i had updated policy docs with the new address and no charge.

There werent competetive on the price for the 3 series however but as the guy said - they specialise in performance cars. You'd need to squint pretty hard to call the 318d a performance car!

I've heard manning are good. Give Reis a try next time though, I found them unbeatable for guaranteed value and the cover includes track too.

Manning weren’t interested in my M3, 15k miles and business use was just too much for them.
