Indeed, the missus has two field ornaments but still volunteers at the local RDA two days a week.

Yep, i lost count of how many times my now wife's horse ran over the top of me "by accident"

We used to sedate him to be shod to bring him down to an almost controllable level, he was batshit crazy around vets and farriers normally.

The ratio for time spent doing upkeep Vs time spent riding them seems like a terrible investment

I try not to think about how much it all costs, better for my health really.

I normally get a call from my wife saying can I help down the yard. By help she really means can I do all the mucking out whilst she disappears and chats to her mates

Untrustworthy. Dead behind the eyes. Secretly plotting our downfall.

Hate them.

In some countries they eat them! Probably the best option.

They're just little pricks though.

Colic Sunday before last - £250 vet fees for coming out on a Sunday and various drugs.

Shoes and dentist this week, £150. Unless of course he needs to travel to the vet for two teeth to be taken out. That's another £540 to pay sir

And that's without mentioning his ex- race horse flighty temperament.

Standing in a small concrete box with a 650kg cunt trying to change his coat really is far from agreeable :x

Loving the term field ornament, she doesn't ride this one either 😂

I grew up in the new forest, thousands of ponies living basically wild, year round

Why is it then, that if the horse is owned, it needs blankets, coats, KKK masks, ointments etc etc to make it through the year?

Same reason a Husky can survive year round outside but a chihuahua will die if the temperature deviates more than 2 degrees above or below 20 Celsius.
How about not having a sig at all?

Shockingly, not all horses are the same. It's like asking why a greyhound needs a coat in winter but a husky doesn't.

Even the boy gets it .

Genuine question - ponies and horses are that much different? I thought one was just a scaled-down version of the other!

New Forest Ponies are a breed that have been there for thousands of years so it's evolved to live in the climate. Bring a Spanish or Arabian horse over here and it's going to get a bit cold in winter.

Really there are as many differences in breeds of horse as there are in other domesticated animals. Pick the right one for what you want.
