People that crash in to your car and drive off

Post by Brannen »

Park my car at work, in a secure car park, get back to it at the end of the day yesterday and someone’s crashed in to my car. No note or anything left.

I work at an insurance company as well... Seeing if there’s cctv, but not entirely confident it’s where I normally park.

That's pretty bad in a work car park. My wife had someone crash into our fiesta and drive off when she was in a public car park.

Wankers. And it's not like they wouldn't have noticed that!

Yeah, they've had a good go at that. I reckon she's kept going after the initial hit.

I know, I think they've completely misjudged the parking bay, swung in and hit my car. Then just driven off.

I'm going to walk around the car park today and see if I can see any cars that look like they've crashed in to something white. There's some black paint on the bumper, so guessing it was a black car.

The most annoying part is I've never made a claim, and if I have no CCTV, it will just go as a fault claim, even though it's parked and I wasn't even there

Yep  - probably wasn't her fault anyway, were you parked in the wrong space or something?

I'd definitely consider paying for that out of my own pocket if you can't find the culprit. A decent bodyshop will probably charge you better rates than they would an insurance company and it saves hassle of higher premiums etc.

Unfortunately this. May be less than your excess.

Our BMW is in today for the bumper repair after someone drove into it whilst parked last week. £120.

That’s shit luck, imagine being the sort of person who could do that amount of damage and then drive off without a care. Absolute wanker.

I know a decent cheap bodyshop in Surrey if it’s any help (no idea where you are).

Security is checking through the CCTV, and said they should be able to find something. So will see what they come back with.

I'll have to get a quote to see how much it will cost to repair. I think my excess is £150, so not massive, but if it's going to be cheapish, I'd consider just paying to get it done myself.

I've not reported it to my insurance company yet, as was waiting to see if there was any CCTV footage.

Rich - I live in Portsmouth, so depending on where in Surrey, it's not that far away. I will check to see if anyone I know knows anything more local though.

The client I’m working for just now has a large private car park and its like the Wild West. I’m amazed at the total lack of respect shown for their own work colleagues - people consistently make up their own spaces, blocking other cars in because they’re too lazy to walk to the overflow car park. And every week someone is posting up to say they’ve come back to find their car has been damaged and there’s been no note left.
Cheers,

Mike.
