Trams.

Post by Broccers »

Does anybody actually use them?

Here in Edinburgh all I can see is a discouragement of walking from town ro Leith. The end result, less income for the little shops.

Don’t you come from Sheffield? The city where trams were reintroduced 27 years ago? I guess you can probably answer your own question from personal knowledge.

Brilliant when the weather isn't great and the low cost, quick access to the airport is fantastic.

Its also a boost for Murrayfield as its a good walk from town out to the stadium.

I used to use the tram to get from Croydon train station to the office where I was working but that was so I wouldn’t have to walk through Croydon…

I think they're a step backwards. But I'm sure they reduce congestion and pollution for some areas.

I used to use the tram into Manc, from Altrincham. Far quicker and easier, cheaper too (no extortionate parking fees).

Better than trains and buses, quicker than both.

The trams are slower than the trains they replaced ;)

No trams in London, but my preference is always buses over underground.

Aye

The Edinburgh trams were a council vanity project and mostly useless.

Edinburgh is small enough that you can walk around most of it and if you need to go further the buses are great.

I feel for anyone who has to drive from town to Leith more than once a year  The whole road network is absolutely fucked. I'm pretty sure the spice heads can walk quicker from town and thats with a few lie downs included. :D :D

No one who lives there drives from the city centre to Leith. You can walk from Prince's St to the shore in about 30 minutes.
