Article states that they're consuming/planning to consume 79% of output for mining.

Which will also be converted to heat, none of that 79% is being exported as useful energy. So in total, 90% of the gas going in gets turned into waste heat.

And does that 79% include the heat generated by the huge HVAC system required to prevent the entire mining rig melting ? I assume so.

I am not a fan of this crypto stuff. I've no doubt some people will be getting very rich but it's not going to be the retail investors. It's all a Ponzi scheme.

The efficiency somewhere like that will be on parasitic load, so for example to run out 5.6MW engine we consume 170kW of power to run radiator fans, cooling fans and pumps etc.

Now if that 85MW of load needs 10MW of cooling (I have no idea on power consumption of electronics, Brant may have an idea) then that will drop the efficiency to a much greater degree as it is not producing anything.

Parasitic load is the big one as that is taken off after the initial thermal efficiency of the generator is already taken into account.
