Marmite Peanut Butter Crunchy

Post by Broccers »

I really can't decide if I like this or not. On one hand it is fucking awful but it actually isn't that bad in the scheme of peanut butters.

Have you tried it, am I mad for even liking it a bit.

Do you not like peanut butter generally? I love the stuff, and quite like Marmite (spread thin on buttery toast), but I can't imagine how they'd go together. I'm not yet tempted.

I like peanut butter and marmite so may pick some up if I stumble across it.
Marmite products in general are great - marmite crisps and marmite cashews are fucking amazing.
How about not having a sig at all?

I like marmite and butter on toast more than peanut butter on toast. The smooth and crunchy both require stirring which is not normal.

Marmite cashews I did love but they've changed them completely - new bag and flavour were 1.59 now 2 quid - not a fan.

I actually quite fancy trying this even though I'm not really a fan of marmite (Bovril on buttered toasted bread products is far, far superior).

But Marmite flavoured stuff is quite nice

I'll definitely give this a try if I see it in the shop. I've never been a big eater of peanut butter for some reason, but it can taste nice, and I love Marmite.

Peanut butter (crunchy) & strawberry jam ftw.
Marmite - ok. The wife loves it.
Marmite cashews - great.
Marmite peanut butter? Maybe I’ll try mixing marmite and peanut butter myself first.

No - completely normal!

Mrs mik will mix marmite and peanut butter on toast, but doesn’t like the pre-mixed stuff.... too marmite-y apparently.

Love Nutella but I rarely buy them.

I really like marmite, tastes completely different warm on toast to cold on bread too which is weird.

Don’t mind peanut butter, but usually have it with raspberry jam. In my head I’m not sure how it would work with savoury.

I did have a drop of honey fall onto a bit of toast with marmite on and quite liked it, but not got around to trying a full on marmite and honey combination...

Love peanut butter, I fondly remember being able to get it freshly ground at some places. I could run home to put the still warm butter onto hot toast.

Marmite is like some weird not right version of Vegemite.

I am far more deeply disturbed by evidence of the mixing of peanut butter and jam though. I thought that was some degenerate American thing.

For anyone who enjoys a bit of hot crumpet I recommend trying home making them. Piss easy recipe and the result is wonderful.

A sachet of yeast, 750ml of lukewarm milk, about two and a half cups of plain flour (enough to make the mixture the thickness of double cream) and sugar (I often use dark brown) to taste.

Activate the yeast, mix everything together, prove for around an hour somewhere warm. Pan fry spoonfuls with a little oil in egg rings.

Cool, need to try that. We bought some fresh yeast as the dried stuff was out of stock. Keep bits in the freezer the right size.

Yes, peanut butter and jam (jelly) is a degenerate American thing, but sometimes you’ve just got to succumb.

I was going to criticise it but then thought it’s one of those odd northern things that the Americans bastardised so stayed quiet
