The woman at Homebase and dog people....

Post by V8Granite »

So yesterday we went to Ferry Meadows, a big park with lakes and bridges etc. Kids running around having fun, we get some fresh air and the dog gets a walk.

Too many chuffing dog owners with dogs off the lead. People who watch too many dog training videos so are armed with treat pouch, belt located pooh bag dispenser and a FUCKING DOG WHISTLE!!!!!! Yep, your dog and everyone else’s in a 100m radius is taking note of your incessant whistling. Nice work calling commands as you follow it around, dog ignoring you and you dishing out treats.
The black Alsatian type dog who was actively trying to rip my dogs nose off as you say she is just playing. Yep, heckles up, teeth bared, lips pulled back and snapping like a Mofo are all signs of playing you tard. I secretly wanted Flash to pin it but he is just too gentle till he gets alert, he should have started with the owner.

The woman at Homebase, I had bought some spray glue due to the train set extension and as child labour laws are vague I had the boys carrying my purchases. So they drop some items including the spray glue on the table and the glue is snatched away, she says Maxwell can’t hold it as it’s against the law and she can go to jail  for selling it to him even if I’m paying for it
So she then goes on to explain how she and him can be arrested and I tell her to tone it down and to just let me pay thanks. She shot dagger eyes at me and then spent the next 10 minutes explaining how the law works with selling glue to adults.

Plus people thinking they have the right of way on slip roads, you can piss off too.

Dave!

So you sniff glue before attending dog fights? :o

But I agree, crap dog owners seem to be multiplying. I am fed up with "oh they are just playing" or "they will be fine" Yes, they may well be but if they get hit by my bike at speed they fucking well won't be for long you cretin!

Our new dog is very reactive to other dogs out on walks- barking lunging etc. We’re trying to sort him out and things are improving which is great.

You’d think of people would continue on their way with the dog Toby’s barking at- to remove it from the situation and help us to regain full control over him, but no. They stop and watch us try to reign him, which winds him up all the more. Absolute pricks

I am absolutely fed up with dogs off lead racing towards me, growling, barking and even jumping up on me.

Last one being a huge Alsation. I think the owners get a kick letting the dogs so far before calling them back.

I think some people even with well trained dogs don’t realise other people aren’t mind readers and don’t understand how in-nerving it can be to have another dog run at you.

I normally see anyone with a Julius K9 harness and a dog treat bag as an imbecile with a badly trained dog

Mine is far from perfect but there is a time and a place and around cyclists and people acting randomly is not one of them.

Might just need a good scrap, find someone with a big dog which isn’t nasty and let them have it out. Some dogs just need telling they aren’t Mike Tyson in a furry suit.

Dogs are far better at training dogs than we are.

People with dogs seem to forget that not everyone else in the world loves dogs or wants random dogs jumping up at them regardless of how ‘friendly’ they’re being.

This!!! :( :o :?

I get twitchy like a Vietnam vet with PTSD. Brother was mauled as a kid by a “friendly” golden retriever or Labrador so I’m very wary of Dogs I don’t know.

No problem with Dogs I know - family and friends all have Staff’s or Bulldogs.

More often than not, dog owners are selfish twats.

One neighbors dog barking all day, other neighbor never walks theirs, bags of dog sh1t in every hedge when I walk around the block.

Walking through the park the other day, another dog races towards me off-leash. The owner apologises then blows a piercing dog whistle as we pass - its all show to pretend how in control they are and what a great dogmamma she is.

Back in the summer a mother on the local community Facebook page had the audacity to complain about dogs in the park trampling all over her toddlers summer party in the park. The group-think and vindictive responses from dog enthusiasts was outstanding.

Don't get me started on the Live-Love-Laughs with pedigree mutant miniature bull dogs etc.

Many dog owners don't understand that training a dog isn't just about getting it to sit or stay. It's about your dog looking to you for direction as its leader. Once that relationship is established, everything else is a piece of piss.

+1 for irritating French Bulldogs. Nearly every one I've encountered has been an absolute nightmare from a behaviour/socialisation perspective. It's not even the dog's fault - they're invariably spoiled and treated like small children rather than dogs. People should have to take a test to qualify as a dog owner, there'd be far fewer dogs in shelters and unruly dogs if there was.
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

Agree with all that of the above.

Ours is good as gold but he does bound up to people if they show an interest, he stops short but even after 6.5 years when he does it I still have a little thought that maybe he won’t

This positive re-enforcement, furr baby crap is hareful.

Like Mr Delphi says, pack leader, firm hand but still loving are what dogs need. I sorted out 2 unruly dogs in the family and because they then got freedom and the proper attention they were much much happier. Seeing a content dog is lovely and if it takes a firm hand to get them there then that’s fine.

Bloody love dogs but it’s the owners that annoy me, someone needs to do a dog translator so I don’t have to converse with the humans.

Will only get worse as people have got dogs recently as its thing to do. Little do they know what it requires.

As for dogs being let off leads, I'm in the middle here - if you know a place is full of dogs running about then avoid it and go somewhere else.

If dogs arent on leads outside of parks or open spaces then that is wrong - I suspect tho you are talking about one or two, not most.
