Merchants that try not to sell you something

Post by drcarlos »

Trying to decide on the oil cooler kit I am going to order for my Subaru.

Someone on the Hawkeye FB group suggested a kit from an eBay seller that I was already looking at. They do several kits listed for an Impreza with nothing specific for the year or engine codes so to make sure I was getting the correct fitting sandwich plate I asked them to confirm it would fit, simple enough?
Nope, they felt it was good to not answer the question and tell me it was a custom kit that required special skills to fit and that it wasn't a job for someone unskilled (this I knew and was up for it and I have the tools, metal and skills to do the job and really after watching someone fit the Misimoto one on youtube it really isn't bad at all, the worst part will be fabricating the brackets needed), mistakenly I asked if another kit maybe a better alternative as i thought they were refering to the oil filter mount needing moving or some such deal as the kit wasn't the correct one. Nope again they come back without an answer on the question and start on about the specialist needed.
Try again, 'is the sandwich plate the correct one, the install is not an issue?', twice. No answer.
WTAF, do they want your CV and a list of completed jobs before they'll answer a question and sell you something?

I could go for the Mishimoto one from elsewhere but it's £100 more and I want to mount the cooler with the lines on the side and not on top so that I can drain the old oil easily when it comes to service time and the mishi kit has the lines on top. This seller also has the best quality kit (mocal and Setrab, which is better than mishi from what I read) at the best prices.
