Look I get you about comedy being left wing generally but then why should it be funded via the licence fee?

Because part of the BBC's charter is to entertain and a lot of people find it entertaining.

They have made some great comedy over the years.

That's because right wing comedy is shite ;)
TBF, BBC comedy is just shite atm. Universally so.

GG - I disagree. There are moments on the likes of Newsnight, but I think you've taken a blinkered view somewhat. There've been a few times I've been pleasantly surprised that they've taken, if not a right of centre approach, certainly a more impartial position and raised issues/asked questions that have tested the left said of thinking on certain matters.

Yeah, I don't think I've watched a new BBC comedy show since Fleabag finished and that was the first one I had watched for ages.

ETA I'd be amazed if Pheobe Waller Bridge isn't tory.

Id have thought the opposite, unless you're basing it on the character "fleabag" is from a posh family? 😂

She's a proper Luvvie - no chance of voting Tory  In fact, I'd wager >90% of those involved in any area of the arts aren't likely to be Tory voters.

There's a strong amount of hate pointed to those who do yet the haters are horrified by racism, sexism and fuckingnexttrendism.

Yes, not wanting people to be prejudged due to who they are is exactly the same as criticising people who allow it to continue .

Yes, those people making an issue of it and keeping it in the public eye are really helping.

Out of my funny ducker friends, 1 Indian, 1 black and 1 gay they all wish people would stop going on about it.

I don’t know any trans folk but the gay one wears skinny jeans so maybe that counts 🤔

I think if everyone dealt with their own shit then it would all be a happier place.

If you don't talk about it and make people aware how do you change anything?

unless the change you're looking for is everyone just stopping going on about it and highlighting it as a difference.

Admittedly, that's worked really well for straight white people over the years. Not so much for everyone else

Surely it's the whole basis for equality? That no one is treated any different regardless of sex/race/beliefs/etc?

That is the point of equality. The way to do that isn't to say everyone's the same though, it's to recognise and accept the differences.

I didn't say anything about saying everyone is the same.

Maybe you need to accept that not every straight white male who doesn't study gender terminology is the enemy. Stop trying to alienate them and accept that some of us are just nice people who don't really care what people want to define themselves as, because it makes no difference to us, they're just people.

I never said you did. None of this is personal to you Rich.

Not really caring how people want to define themselves can be quite dismissive though. I'm not saying anyone's an enemy unless they make themselves one by talking shit.

It's easy, either listen to people and learn something or stop inserting yourself into discussions you know nothing about.
