Scatmunching Dog

Post by Sundayjumper »

Our youngest, Mia, has taken to eating poo. Not just any poo, *fresh* poo.

As in, hasn’t-even-hit-the-ground fresh.

When Susie is “busy”, Mia is right there catching it.

So gross.

You don’t need anyone to highlight that you want to stop that. :?

Change in circumstances causing any stress do you think?

our pup did this. changing the food helped as the vet suggested that it could be a lack of protein in the diet that makes them do it.

We moved them on to James Wellbeloved Duck and rice and she seemed to stop it / do it less... Try it and see if it helps.

At my old house, the neighbour's lab puppy would regularly come into my garden and eat all the cat poo from the lawn. They apologised to me. No apology necessary, it saved me picking it up before mowing!

Isn’t this common in pups ?

Ours did it for a few weeks and then stopped, he was growing like mad so we just increased his food.

We had a black lab who went for them like a truffle pig on the local dog field, the owner was gagging every time

Yup, its quite common. Can be a sign that they maybe lived in dirty conditions when they were with their mum, but its also just one of those things that some do when hungry (as it will smell like dog food) so maybe they need more food like V8Granite says.

Just need to stay on top of it but its easier said than done, especially when out on walks if they’re off the lead as dogs love a truffle. Very disgusting habit though.
Cheers,

Mike.
