Light is red when handbrake is on, and off when handbrake is off but DSC on.

Light is red when handbrake is on, and yellow when handbrake is off and DSC off too.

Yeah, it's weird. The on in the middle is traction control, which will let you slip the tyres but will still do the stability control stuff.

Yellow TC light + yellow hanbrake light = no safety nets beyond ABS.

Well that was a fail.

Forgot to mute whatever shite was on radio 1 at the time, took forever to get from 5.5-6.5k, and was a curve on my private test track so you can't even see that bit of the rev counter in the vid.

Not very exciting anyway so won't bother trying to do a better one 😂

Best bit of the car tbh.

It does feel pretty feisty from 2-5.5k and up to about 80mph, but higher revs / speeds really don't suit it

Rather like the wife's Volvo. I'd assume a low pressure turbo to give the bigger engine feel low down where most people will use it but bugger all to offer at the top end when it runs out of puff.

When I had my 155ps Mito it was the same; no point redlining it as the boost tailed off. Tiny turbo but very responsive.

I remember being surprised when I first drove a turbo Mito as the engine is so different. Remember it making peak torque at just after idle whereas my poverty one does it at 5000rpm and peak power at 6000 so it really does have to be driven to the redline to get anywhere.

The na 1.4 like the panda 100hp and my mums old punto sporting make 92 lb/ft at 4500 rpm and 94bhp at 6000rpm. The 135 turbo makes 152 lb/ft at 1750rpm and 135bhp at 5000rpm.

So yeah, completely different character from basically the same bottom end.

Video doesn't really do justice to how quickly it builds boost in the normal driving range, as you don't older go full throttle from 1000rpm

So because I'm a rule breaker, not a rule taker, here's a run of someone doing a 2200rpm pull in 3rd, to not quite the limiter, at not quite full throttle because it was wet and a bit scary. Bike apparently was a KTM Superduke GT 1290, which has a 1301cc 172bhp V-twin. Going below 2000rpm rattles it to death.

Someone I know in a very similar car recorded an attempt last night but he's an idiot and moved the video recording device before getting to the redline. The road was probably 100 yards too short/the driver chickened out too.

maybe it kicks it after 5k?*

*it doesn’t.

There is literally no curve of any sort, just some gruff noise and some gentle thrust forward!

How high is the gearing?! A 75bhp shopping hatch used to do not much more than 70mph at the red line in 3rd, and that was with fewer gears.

Yep - I've left the mighty Corsa at home the last two days and been using the wife's Superb whilst she's not here. I just can't handle the power of the Vauxhall

Jobbo - by the time you're doing 70 in 5th I think it's at around 3500rpm, and you've already lost the will to want to go any quicker. It truly is a turkey.
