My late father got a 3 year ban but that might have been because he tried to punch the copper that arrested him.

Do we anticipate that the ban will stop them driving?

Yes.

There was an interesting article about drink drivers and folk who committed various Alcohol related offences being fitted with a device. When the person consumed any alcohol the tag detected it and the individual was sent straight to prison (was in the US). Seems like we could do with that here.

Don't some repeat drink drive offenders have to get breathalyser interlocks fitted to their car?

Did the offender have good legal representation? That sounds like a reasonable result considering it's a third offence for the same thing.

Yes and has gone on some course for alcoholics as it's a bit of a problem clearly.

Called it!

Although I'd forgotten that my dad got a suspended sentence the first time as well, I don't think they gave him one the second time.

3.5 years seems unduly harsh to me for less than twice the limit

Tbh a vintage tractor feels pretty terrifying at 10mph

Independent brakes only on the rear wheels, a hand throttle, gears in weird places, steering only vaugly attached to the front wheels, probably ancient tyres which are rock hard.

For 3.5 years I expect there are other charges on top like no insurance, no licence, leaving the scene of an accident etc
