Disco Sport has max. towing capacity of 2200 kg the new Defender can tow 3720 kg

One is suitable for towing a caravan the other for pulling a combine harvester out of a field

No doubt some aftermarket company has already made actual plating for it.

Chequer plate on that is no different than the cheap tat chrome Marc’s are putting on their cars, hateful shit.

Some textured rubber like on the Cactus door would do the job.

I wonder if they will do a pick-up version because as it stands not a single utility company would buy one. There are still a few of the newer 2.2 versions used by the electricity board near me and a few with cherry pickers and cranes on etc.

It will be great but if its not seen doing the tough stuff, modified, external cages, big work boxes on the back etc will it still be as popular ?

The roof load is a big improvement which is nice and the 3.5ton tow capacity being kept is important. The load area looks a bit rubbish but although the original is big inside, the door size is quite small which is a twat at times.

I think only Toyota is left with a truly rugged 4x4 ?

Yes first I noticed it on the wing mirror and thought that’s odd, then there was a close up on the front bumper which made it clear that it’s plastic.

That front bar looks a bit retiree spec Series 1 Freelander, doesn’t it?

I notice the snorkel has no effect on the wading depth as well. Wonder if that's due to the mounting locations of key electrical items?

How strange, it is probably to protect electronics and the interior and give them a get out clause if you take it wading a bit too deep and damage something!

Wonder if the front bumper has a clever design to snap off allowing access to maintain the winch. It seems very hidden.

You genuinely can't see in the screenshot above where the winch might possibly be housed?

The 90 on steelies in green looks the business! I know this is the new Defender, but are the army and farmers going to buy it (or be able to afford it?) for tooling around the great outdoors? Or will it just be the latest must-have for the school run?
