That's disappointing.

Would've been better if they'd gone for the Jeep/G-Wagen method. usefully update the running gear while just tidying up the styling a bit.

It’s just another model in the already crowded and confusing Discovery/Range Rover range by the looks of it.

The Internet will piss and moan about it. We’ll hear from everyone with a vague interest in cars saying they should’ve done this, or shouldn’t have done that, how it’s not a “real” Defender (mostly from people who never drove a “real” Defender. And despite all this, they’ll sell as many as they can build.

So there’s basically one design and a load of sizes, all overlapping:

Evoque 3dr. = Defender 3dr
Evoque 5dr. = Discovery sport. = Defender 5dr.
Velar. = Range Rover Sport
Range Rover = Discovery

Or something like that?

And they’ll sell HUGE amounts of options sold on each one!

It does look like they just rob sales from themselves though. But if that’s the market - they know what they’re doing.

In fairness this applies to EVERY car that has a loved predecessor.

Looks like a smaller, slightly more rounded Disco4 to me.

I like it.

Also explains the “who let the Jimny into the paddock with the in-season Defender” meme that was going around Twitter last week.

I just think it’s a shame. Another interesting oddity gone.

I’d have preferred if they’d used the name/off road heritage as an opportunity to do something different rather than a completely standard high end painted metal car that is exactly the same as the rest of the range.

I prefer the Lego version. Don't like the alloys on the one in the picture, and the headlights look weird. It's a cross between a Yeti and Disco 3 in my view.

So the original leaked pics were of the final car (the ones that a member of staff took before they were adding camo to a Defender).
I think this is really the car that the Discovery should have been. It’s just a renamed Disco really.
How about not having a sig at all?

Videos of that from November ‘18 on YouTube, so doubt it. 🤷‍♂️
