Yeah, I do think the base spec Defender 90 with some options is the one I'd go for.

The fact the interior is built to be practical is a big plus point for me given the kids, dogs, outdoor lifestyle etc. I've never understood why SUVs and estates don't come with the option of a non-carpeted interior.
Cheers,

Mike.

I’d go with a light green 110, white roof and the diff on steels.

Everything else will probably be a few months away and you can then get some far better kit for a cheaper price.

Aslong as they are affordable to me at 3 years old I can’t think of anything else I’d have bar a GL.

400bhp version of it in the £stoopid First Edition. It doesn’t seem to be available in lesser models yet, but assume it will be once the sell all the FE’s....

+1 on that. You also get rid of the "square of pointlessness" on the side which is a must.
Or just don't option it on the 110 :?:

There is a 200bhp diesel... The 240PS version apparently tows rather well.

I thought it was always there as it was covering up a pillar that isn't there on the 90? I didn't go all the way through the options to see if you could deselect it. Does that remove it or merely colour it black?

I like the big plastic arches. The normal ones look a little weedy for a defender.

Not enough torque.

Essentially I want a Cummins 4bt in a modern Defender

We would get a petrol non hybrid one as all the dirty hippies are removing diesel from being as practical as it once was.

Hopefully I’ll get a nose around one properly before too long.

On the configurator I agree, in the flesh it's not so clear cut because they look quite aftermarket.

Configurator doesn't allow you to remove it...

I just measured my 110 and it is 4720 from the front bumper to the back of the real wheel which is on a carrier on the door.

So the new one would be 30cm longer than the old one even though the 3rd row of seats leave virtually no boot space.

The problem is the spare wheel which I’d rather not have on the door, it would be removed for day to day stuff or in a bag in the boot, it makes it a bit of a pain to park and to be able to access the boot.

Ah OK. This doesn’t change my initial thoughts though.

The new Defender has certainly provoked a certain type of first impressions/first drive video on Youtube, very different from the typical motoring stuff.

So, what's the long term future of Diesel engines? Did we ever answer that on here and whether or not we should just go with petrol wherever possible? 🤔
Cheers,

Mike.
