CTIIRWOIWAHO

I thought I’d put all my car musings in a single thread. Basically any car I get vaguely interested in for about 10 minutes before not buying one. Feel free to add your own.

This week, the car I spent ages learning about but will never buy:

The Ford Flex Limited Ecoboost AWD.

These are Ford’s answer to the big old station wagons from the 60s and 70s. They come with electric everything but most importantly they come with the 3.5 V6 twin turbo engine that’s in the current Ford GT but with 365bhp and an AWD drivetrain. 7 seats and 0-60 in about 6 seconds. What more could you want from a family hauler?

I love the Ford Edge. Numerous times I've looked them up since coming back from New York in April, but Ford still didn't sell any RHD ones in the UK.

To me it is a bit like the Disco 3 in station wagon rather than SUV form. I love the way it looks. Then I look on Auto Trader and all I can find is a sort of overgrown Kuga.

ETA: because we're both talking about the Flex, not the Edge, surely? It's on the hood!

Yep, realised I’d used the wrong name before I’d finished the post but then forgot to correct it

I still keep checking the Edge adverts just in case they're actually a Flex

I got stuck on the idea of getting a Clio 197 for my daily commute for some reason.

Same engine as the F150, they make an easy 400 bhp at the wheels with a remap and breathing mods, up to whatever silly amount you want by changing the turbos - stupid fast for their size. Outdrags the mapped 645 on the motorway to just over 3 figures.

It's the same engine that's in loads of American Ford stuff, the Ford GT's is basically the same as well.

I can see why Rev likes the Flex, it's a Ford Stagea ;).

I can't quite work out the abbreviation.

Shouldn't it be CTIIRWIWAHO or CTICRWOIWAHO

You can also get that engine in the Ford Transit in America which makes them really popular for campervans. Wonder if any delivery companies have them

I flirt between sensible and not so sensible these days:

Skoda Superb V6 AWD DSG estate/1.8tsi

S2000/BoxsterS 3.2/Z4

Or just get a silly barge (Jag XF) and write the costs off.

Or just buy another bike and wait for the Civic to drop dead and go EV.

Other cars I’m thinking about in case I decide I do need something practical in the fleet are:

Jeep Cherokee 4.0 XJ because they’re cheap and I just have a thing for them despite their astonishing fuel thirst and complete lack of power. That straight 6 loves cruising around <2000rpm, though.

Chrysler 300C 5.7 Hemi estate. I know they’re probably terrible and I could probably find a baggy AMG E55K for similar money but I sort of want one because of the fact it’s a bit rubbish.

Holden Kingswood Estate - ideally in Shit Brown :D

There’s obviously quite a ‘scene’ in Aus because I keep seeing them. From Concourse Originals to Camper conversions to stripped out rollcaged animals.

Fell in love - i’ll have a basic one which I’ll convert to a camper.

Which I won’t because Thread Title

That's what the new Defender will be, or a Land Rover Yeti.
