OK. I'm sure I don't have any better use for 20k than a four sports saloon that's slower and older than the one currently parked outside.

For standard 3 series saloons I think the facelift e90 is probably my favourite looking.

Standard e30 four doors on skinny wheels look pretty rubbish, despite it being very easy to make them look great. Similarly e36s on 15in wheels and standard bumpers look pretty crap, although for some reason the compact manages to get away with it.

The e46 is in an awkward place, too new to be Retro, too old to look modern, I dislike the downward droop pre-facelift indicators and dislike the curvy facelift front end. Overall I prefer a lot of the details and basic shapes of the e36.

The original e90 was slightly odd looking with its bangled moustache grille, but the general proportions are pretty good and it manages that modern BMW thing of decent wheels and sport bumpers somehow making the arches look wider too. The facelift tidied up the details but unfortunately added rubbish electric power steering.

E91 probably my favourite 3er estate too.

I can't fault the logic. Bugger - could have used that 20k, but needs must.

Just seen a 19 plate Fabia which made me look twice because the design looks 12 years old already!

Mitsi evo - can never quite decide between the 5 or 6. I prefer the higher more adjustable rear wing of the 6, but think I prefer the big dinnerplate size spotlights of the 5, although the flare of the outer edges of the front bumper is a bit weird on the 5 from some angles.

I always liked the Evo VII for some reason.

I would love a 6 RS

Back in the day evo (Dickie IIRC) did an article on the VII RS Sprint where I think he really liked it. Would actually like to read it again, where's Mike when you need him?

Oddly enough I have now developed a thing for S-types. There is an S-type R that parks just by my office and it looks and sounds tremendous.
