I think it’ll be awesome when it’s back together. I’m just itching to drive it.

Hope it goes well for you Dave.

Seems you’re in good company with Jethro reading his 996 Running Report in EVO mag this month

Hopefully yours will work out cheaper

I remember when I sent my m coupe to be sorted for its vanos failure and got a bill near that after expecting it to be lots less. The worst thing in the world is arguing about bills after a job. Luckily I had their mini which wasn't returned until the figure was more acceptable.

Still a great buy even with a slightly wobbly start.

It’s nearly back together. There’ll be no arguing over the bill, they’re a good bunch that’s doing it.

Final bill still being added up, but labour is "just over the 30 hours mark" at £50 per hour. Add the valve seat work to that, pullies, a drive belt, cam chain guides, oil filler tube, clips, fluids etc. and I guess were somewhere around £2k? I'll know for sure in the morning.

£50/hour is cheap, Does that include VAT? (Why the fuck do garages always quote costs to normal punters not including VAT!?)

How much have you paid already - The head, any towing, etc... Anything under £3k I reckon you’ve done well.

I was expecting it to be more frightening if I'm honest! Good old Northern labour rates helping you there as well I think - the Southern indys are quite a bit dearer on the whole.

ETA: Rich beat me to it on the labour.

It would be hard to MOT a car which doesn't work, to be fair.

I suppose technically an MOT testers bay is not 'the road'
