Rev paid for head today.
Looks he received some good head in return though, so all good 8-)

Have the existing heads been ported/polished or anything? Just wondering if the new one would have the same flow as the remaining one

No, they’re just standard heads.

At least you know the rest of the engine is strong.

Did they have to remove the engine to get the head off or can you do it in situ?

It’s just a beetle - 4 bolts and it’s out... 😂

Just lift it up and shake and it’ll fall out, like the last Pringles in the tube.

When will you be back on the road? Any other bits planned while the engine is out?

Given the concern over the oil cooler, that’s probably worth doing ! And maybe any hoses and stuff that will be a b*tch to get at once the engine is back in.

I’m hoping it’ll be ready for when I get back from Italy in a couple of weeks.

My offer to run it in while you're away still stands.

I mean I have a three litre, six cylinder car. How different can it be?

Sure, as long as you pay the bill when you pick it up.

Is there a sweepstake for the final cost yet (or do you know exactly?)

Don’t know the final bill yet. I’m still trying not to think about it. So far it’s been £600 for the head.

My tuna reckons this head came off an engine that's had a cam chain failure and probably mashed its valves and destroyed one or more of the plugs. that won't have been pretty. The rest of the head is fine, bar some witness marks.
